Leek Auctions

Dairy Reports

Milk was certainly the order of the day with a red & white second calver from Messrs Bennett, Whiston selling to £1700.

Dairies sold on a similar trade to last week.

A very mixed quality forward today with the lighter weight 2nd/3rd quality heifers proving harder to sell.

There is no escaping it, this weather as predicted is continuing to impact upon trade within the dairy section, as it is with every other section, with virtually all farmers at the market worrying in some way shape or form about fodder supplies both for now and the rest of the year.

A packed shed of dairies at Leek on Tuesday saw the commercial trade slightly easier as the sunny spell continues to hit grass supplies. However, the Shorthorns sold really well proving yet again leek is the place to sell.
