Market Report Tuesday 3rd June

Over 1,300 head of sheep on offer this week with the best Spring Lambs selling up to 422p/kg, topping at £200.20/head. Hoggs topped at 342p/kg and topped at £186/head. A large entry of Ewes forward this week topping at £228/head.

A cracking heifer from Chesterfield topped the dairy section at £2760. Lots of pigs around today with 146 on offer, topping at 214p/kg for fats with a top headage price of £243.20.

A good trade in the Barrens this week with a British Blue topping at 292p/kg and a top headage price of £1883.60 for a Shorthorn cow, which sold for 277p/kg weighing 680kg.

Amazing trade in the calves again this week with plenty of buyers around the ring looking for all types. A British Blue bull topped at £820 with a Limousin topping the heifers at £535.

A British Blue cow weighing 625kg sold to 292p/kg to gross at £1825 for Foker Grange Farm, Leek, a Holstein weighing 625kg sold to 281p/kg to gross £1756.25 for DI Ball & Son of Sandbach and a Shorthorn cow from Ipstones, weighing 680kg sold to 277p/kg to gross £1883.60. CLEAN CATTLE

A small entry of clean cattle saw 480kg Holstein selling to 296p/kg to gross £1420 from D & J Moseley Ltd and an Aberdeen Angus bull weighing 745kg achieved 330p/kg to gross £2458.50 for JAS Agricultural UK Ltd.

A cracking heifer from David Brailsford of Chesterfield stole the show on Tuesday, boasting 12 gens VG/EX, she was sold giving 30kg and was clinched by Andrew Hulme of Basford.

A red & white heifer by Robin Red from Stuart Greenall of Tansley reached £2200 to the Moseley family of Caverswall.

In-calf heifers from Mick & Kay Hulse of Consall topped at £1940 with others to £1910 and £1860 respectively.
