REPORT OF BREEDING RAM SALE
Saturday 27th September 2025
A smaller entry on the year saw a very strong demand particularly for the best quality rams of all breeds.
Texels were the highlight of the day with some excellent quality rams forward and a credit to the vendors. The Hadfield family of Chamber Farm, Peak Forest lead the way with a top of £1650 for Texel shearlings and their run of 24 would average a shade Under £1000/head.
Following closely was Will and Jackie Forrester topping at £1450 for Texel shearlings and again plenty of their entry at £1000 and better. Ben Vernon also sold Texel X rams to a top of £1400.
Paul and Anna Johnson of Bignall End deserve a special mention as they sold their final consignment of the Corriecravie Texel flock after being supporters of Leek Auctions for over 35 years. Their entry topped at £850 (twice) and we would like to thank them for their support over many years.
Suffolks saw a solid demand with the best to £850 for shearlings from the Bowdler family and £700 for R Bassett & Son of Hulme End. Ram lambs sold to £600 from Mr Bayliss of Telford.
Charollais rams sold to £800 for shearlings from Bowdler family and £700 for aged rams from Stuart Talbot and family. Ram lambs to £700 from John Goldstraw and plenty at £500 – £600 from numerous vendors.
Jack Belfield and Rosie Deakin-Gallimore put forward an excellent pen of rams which topped at £700 for a Millenium Bleu with others at £600.
Next Sale – Saturday 25th October and a good entry is required.
