100% clearance again this week with Lambs up to 400p/kg and ewes to £220/head

The Pedigree Dairy sale topped at £4150 for a fantastic heifer from Bakewell

Calves continue to fly with British Blue Bulls to £690 and British Blue Heifers to £570

Barrens topped at 261p/kg or £2015/head with Friesian bulls in the clean cattle reaching 339/kg or £2169/head

A Hereford cow topped the barrens this week at 261p/kg, weighing 660kg, she grossed £1722.60 for J Gilman & Partners of Bosley.

Holstein was the top headage price of the day at £2015 weighing 775kg and selling to 260p/kg for HS & A Callwood of Knutsford,

NE Goodwin & Son of Upper Hulme had a Holstein weighing 625kg, selling to 253p/kg to achieve £1581.25.

A bunch of Friesian bulls sold well today in the clean cattle, topping at 339p/kg to £2169.60/head for J E Archer & Sons of Hilton.

Overall average for clean cattle was 332.64/kg.

A good show of pigs again today with trade back slightly, best gilts 200p+ topping at 207p, boars 160p-170p.

Porkers sold to 175p for J&B Fentem.

Cutters sold to 200p for PJ Saunders, 197p, 196px2 for J&B Fentem. 195p for R Scragg.

Baconers sold to 207p for Massie Farms who had others to 204p x3, 202p x3, 201p x2. PF+PD Parsons sold to 202p, 200p. B Minshull to 200p and C Hine to 200p. R Scragg to 199p.

Heavies to 196p or £209.72 for PF+PD Parsons.

Gilts to 120p for Massie Farms, CJ & CA Tunnicliffe to 60p.

PEDIGREES TO £4150

Trade for milkers continues to strengthen with a fantastic Kingmaster heifer from the Meldamar Herd of Messrs Shepherd of Bakewell topping the November Pedigree Sale at £4150. Sold giving 32kg she was eventually clinched by Andrew Hulme of Basford. He also went on to take a second heifer from the Havendale Herd of Messrs Flower at £4000.

Close behind at £3800 was a Wet Faneca Martin daughter from the Shieldhouse Herd of Messrs Weston with another heifer from the Topbrass herd of Messrs Brassington at £3500.

Cows topped at £2940 for a third calver from the Braemarhouse herd of Messrs Mellor.

A smaller entry but a good demand for all types and best shaped lambs in very strong demand.

Best lambs to 400p/kg and best big lambs to £211.70/head.

A lot of store type lambs in the entry, selling well but impacting the average, which levels at 317p/kg.
