Another firm trade in the barren shed with a top price of 270p/kg for a 645kg Limousin to gross £1741.50 for D & J Bradbury of Ipstones.

An 820kg Holstein sold to 268p/kg to gross £2197.60, being the top headage price of the day, for GP Broadsmith & Son of Lymm.

Clean cattle topped at 290p/kg to gross £1232.50 for a Holstein heifer from J & R Maydew of Consall with two others from the same vendor selling to 280p/kg and 278p/kg to gross £1512 and £2001/head.

The overall average was 270p/kg or £1398.22/head.

A few less pigs about today and trade a touch stickier with more plain sorts on offer. Top price on the day 214p or £273.92 for Massie Farms.

Porkers sold to 204p for JA&B Minshull.

Cutters sold to 195p for JA&B Minshull, S Seabridge sold to 192p, J&B Fentem to 180p, 175p.

Bacon pigs sold to 212p for Massie Farms who had others to 210p, 207p, 205p. B Minshull to 207p, 206p, S Bailey to 207p, OT Davies to 201p, PF+PD Parsons to 194p.

Heavies sold to 214p for Massie Farms who had others to 214p.

Clean gilts to 130p for Massie farms to gross £257.40.

A real trade in the Dairy ring with vendors well rewarded and more could have been well sold.

Top price of the day £2780 for an October ‘23 born Pedigree Benty Grange heifer from the Phillips family at Winkhill. Sold giving 34kg she was eventually clinched by Nigel Moss at Wetwood.

All the best end £2000 and above with the best four averaging over £2400 per head.

Pedigree Friesian bred 3rd calvers to £2200 again for Josh Phillips.

Heavy lambs to 476p/kg and over weights to 450p/kg to top at £243/head.

SQQ average at 408p/kg and overall average at 392.5p/kg.

A superb show of numbers in the calf shed today with the quality perhaps not just as good as last week and a large entry of dairy and black & white calves but still topping at £840 for a strong Blonde bull from the Gilmans and weanlings to £1100 from Joe Radford.

A good show today which met good demand ring side, topping at £685 for a very strong Hereford bull from the Goulds, Aberdeen Angus bulls close behind at £645 from Birch Brothers and half over £400. Average4s a touch back but the bottom end were smaller sorts generally.
