A sharp trade in the barrens today, seeing a top price of £2154.75/head for a Holstein cow weighing 845kg, selling to 255p/kg for D & J Moseley Ltd of Caverswall.
A Simmental cow weighing 565kg sold to 272p/kg to gross £1536.80 for EB & BM Sutton of Congleton.
A 635kg Hereford from Waller Farms of Macclesfield sold to 263p/kg to gross £1670.05.

CLEAN
A strong trade was seen in the clean cattle today with a 15-month-old 700kg Limousin bull topping at £2520/head, selling at 360p/kg for JM Robinson of Swythamley. A trio of Friesian bulls sold to £1964, £1960 and £1831 for J E Archer & Sons of Hilton who also had an Aberdeen Angus bull to £1925.85.
Roston Farms Ltd of Roston had an Aberdeen Angus steer to £2278.50, selling to 310p/kg, Holstein to £2030 and £1905/head and Friesian steers to £2156 and £1981/head.
The overall average for clean cattle was 312.08p/kg or £1942.70/head.

A small entry saw a steadier trade, more in line with other outlets. Best sorts selling to 515p/kg from John and Gary Fryer of Horton. They were closely followed by Ian and Andrew Wilson and Family at 510p/kg.
Best headage of £231/head from Harry Lyons.
Overall average at 493p/kg or £208/head.
HOGGS (727)
Good numbers again but quality just a little lacking in places. Best hoggs very well bid for to top at 491p/kg and plenty at 450p/kg and better.
Heavy hoggs meeting more price resistance but the best still reaching 472p/kg for heavies 432p/kg for overweight’s and a top headage price of £227.70.
Commercial quality lambs a bit less on the week, being around 380p – 410p/kg generally with heavyweights less.
More best shaped sorts could be sold to vendor’s advantage.
