327 Breeding Rams
A tremendous show of breeding rams this year, saw quality in abundance and the trade to match as a packed ring of buyers looked to secure quality tups for the forthcoming season.
Breeding Females
Ewe lambs topped at £180 for Beltex from M Kilroe, Alderley Edge who had others to £170 twice. Shearling ewes sold to £300 for Texel Shearlings from S W Kirkham, Werrington with Border Leicester shearlings from P Kirkham and IC Bourne selling to £290.
J Miffin, Halme End peaked at £230 for dorset shearlings and Ian and Ruth Crabtree saw £220 for Zwartble shearlings. Two shear dutch spotted ewes sold to £340, £330, £280 for M Kilroe.
Ram Lambs
A buoyant trade for ram lambs topped at £550 for Charollais from G Biddulph, Gawsworth who had others to £520 and £480. Madders and Johnson, Hopton saw £550, £500 for Charollais. SWP & JA Talbot, Gratwich saw £480 again for Charlloais and Texels to £380, £350 x2. Suffolks to £420 for JS & A Whitehurst Bramshall. Southdown to £200 for M Cork, Yeaveley.
Shearling Rams
An unbelievable trade for shearling rams topping at £1250 for Texels from WL & JA Forrester, Whitchurch who had a run to £1200, £1150×2, £1100, £1000, £950×2, £900×2. Ben Vernon, Marston Montgomery sold Texel x Beltex to £950. L Hadfield & Son, Peak Forest sold Texels to £900×2, £850, £800, £780, £730×3, £700×3. Beltex to £700 for B Jones, Idridgehay. Charollais to £700 for Madders and Johnson. Charollais to £550 for J Belfield & R Deakin-Gallimore and JB & JS Bowdler. Suffolks to £520 for JS & A Whitehurst. Blue Faced Leicesters to £500 for JS & A Bowdler. Blue Texel to £480 for JMJ Wayne, Matlock. Millennium blues to £400 for P Nadin, Meerbrook
