There was a total entry of 495 store and breeding sheep were on offer with plenty of trade throughout and a number of good prices being achieved.
Shearlings & Ewes
Shearling ewes were a particularly good trade with Pedigree Texel shearlings from Paul Johnson of Bignall End up to £370, and another single Texel from Paul Johnson at £320 and a further single ewe £300.
In the commercials, a pen of Texel shearlings from Messrs Jeffrey of Sudbury sold for £325 Aand a further bunch of 6 Texels at £305.
Mule shearlings from A Heathcote of Macclesfield were bid for keenly selling up to £202 and £200 for bunches of 10 with Texel shearlings from E Morten & Sons of Barmoor Clough at £190 and £188.
Suffolk shearlings from Messrs Flower of Pikehall sold for £160.
Older ewes from Steve Shenton of Cauldon sold up to £148 for Texels and £134 from John Conway of Glossop for another bunch of 5 Texels.
Lambs
Ewe Lambs from Messrs Mycock of Monyash sold up to £132 for Mules with Herdwicks up to £122.
Breeding Rams
Shearling Texel Rams from S W & J A Talbot of Gratwich achieved up to £500 with another from the same vendor at £400 with Charollais shearling Rams from Robert Wood of Bradnop up to £450 (three times) and £400 for a Shearling Charollais from Madders and Johnson of Hopton.
Suffolk Rams from D J Badham of Abbots Bromley sold up to £430 with a Texel Ram lamb from Messrs Talbot at £300.
