Dairies were on fire once again, with 6 over £2000 and a top of £2300 for a heifer from the Shepherd family of Hassop, with all the milkers averaging £1711.
A full shed of lambs with trade easier on the week, and quality selling very well up to 235p/kg, and best ewes to £125.
Barrens sold up to 130p/kg, with plenty of buyers around the ring. And good to see some quality clean cattle forward today topping at 224p/kg and 216p/kg.
A solid trade for pigs topping at 138p/kg, and plenty of fat pigs 120p/kg and above.
What a trade for calves, especially for continental bulls topping at £425 and £420 for Blue bulls with Blue heifers at £305 and £302.

A similar trade to last week, with trade a little steadier, topping at 130p/kg for a 890kg Charolais cow from D & DM Turner, Rainow with another 820kg Charolais cow realising 119p/kg from C & EJ Whilock, Werrington.
Limousins topped at 116p/kg for a 695kg cow from S B Mellor & Son, Winkhill with black & white’s up to 116p/kg for a 785kg Friesian from B & A Poyser, Onecote.

Some good quality cattle forward this Tuesday selling well up to 224p/kg for a 555kg Charolais heifer from Rushton Spencer, who also sold a 615kg Charolais heifer at 203p/kg with Mark Butler, Bagnall selling a neat 450kg Limousin heifer at 216p/kg to Peter Lymer of JW Ash Butchers of Leek.
Other heifers sold at 176p/kg for a 505kg Hereford, 170pkg for a 500kg Hereford from GW & TM Yates, Ashbourne.
Steers topped at 175p/kg for a 500kg Hereford from GW & TM Yates, and a 515kg Limousin steer realised 171p/kg for R & A Williamson, Wetley Rocks.
Top headage price of £1248.45 and £1243.20 for the Charolais heifers, with steers to £880.65 and £875.

What a trade! Dairies continue to harden with 6 passing the £2000 mark on Tuesday to top at £2300 and average £1711.
Topping the day was a superb heifer from the Shepherd family of Hassop, Bakewell. Giving 32kg she reached £2300 with other heifers from the same home making £2110 and £2020.
Close behind at £2200 was a third calver from the Broomhouse Herd of Messrs Easom. They also had a second calver to £2180. A second calver from Andrew Bunting of Bakewell made £2100 with British Friesians from Messrs Howe of Litton to £1860.
Entries are coming in nicely for next weeks pedigree sale with over 50 milkers already catalogued. A strong trade again this week for fat pigs topping at 138p/kg twice for cutting pigs and heavy pigs.
Pork pigs sold up to 109p/kg for a trio of 74kg pigs from J & B Fentem, Alsop en le Dale.
Cutting pigs topped at 133p/kg for 84kg pigs from Bernard Minshull, Buxton with the Fentem family selling cutters to 131p/kg (twice), 118p/kg, 116p/kg and 115p/kg.
Bacon pigs sold up to 138p/kg for 98kg pigs from PF & PD Parsons, Whitchurch, with a trio of 97kg pigs at 136p/kg for David Goldstraw, Meerbrook and 134p/kg and 133p/kg for bacon pigs from the Fentem’s and 126p/kg for 89kg pigs from Bernard Minshull.
Heavy pigs topped at 138p/kg for a pair of 108kg pigs from PF & PD Parsons, with 107kg pigs at 134p/kg for J & B Fentem and 126p/kg for a 112kg pig from H Kelsall & Son, Dean Row.
Cull sows sold on an excellent trade to 93p/kg for a 154kg sow from J W Bailey, Cloudside, with a 240kg sow at 84p/kg for Bernard Minshull and 76p/kg for a 274kg sow from the same home. A 327kg boar realised 48p/kg for S Bailey, Biddulph.

Another good entry of lambs for November. Quality not quite as good overall with plenty of ‘commercial’ quality lambs in the entry which generally did not have the shape/finish required by some buyers. That said some
good individual lots being very well bid for.
Best shaped lambs topping at 235p/kg from Marcus Jones of Rudyard with other best sorts generally 220p and above.
Heavy lambs much more difficult to place than last week but best big lambs still grossing £113.40 and plenty at above £100/head.
Overall trade notably less than last weeks flyer to average 194p/kg but 100% clearance achieved and lambs still worth plenty more than this time last year!

Consistent numbers but no vendors around the ring today to watch their calves sold but then need not to worry as we had a fantastic trade for all the calvers on offer with the best bulls looking particularly dear.
