A strong trade for hogget’s this Tuesday with leading prices of 330p/kg and averaging 269.62p/kg or £119.25 per head. A very fast trade for cull ewes also selling to £175 and averaging £116.08/head!
Some good quality dairies and another brisk trade throughout, selling to £2380 and £2210 for heifers.
More barren cattle about this Tuesday and they sold on a solid trade with prices up nationally and topping at 157p/kg to average 112.31p/kg.
A drop in price for pigs this Tuesday with the best to 103p/kg or £1104.58.
A good turnout of calves this week with a top price of £435 for a British Blue bull and heifers to £335.

A small entry with a top price of 205p/kg for a 735kg British Blue Steer from M & M Heath, Heaton. Two Blonde steers at 585kg and 630kg made 182p/kg and 175p/kg respectively for G A Wise, Audley.

Another very strong trade for milkers saw the best to £2380 from Messrs Easom of Oakerthorpe with others from the same home to £2210 for another heifer and £2100 for a second calver.
Richard Lomas of Calow saw his Holsteins x Norwegian Red heifer reach £2100. Numerous other heifers were in that £1800 – £2000 bracket with more needed to satisfy demand.
A tremendous entry already entered for next weeks pedigree sale will see over 70 milkers forward along with in-calf heifers, bullers and calves. Loot out for the catalogue online which will be out shortly.

Trade was down this week which is reflected in the averages below, mainly down to an over supply nationally. Pork pigs sold to 62p/kg for 69kg pigs from T R Meakin, Loxley and 50p/kg for 65kg pigs from P J Barker.
Cutters topped the day at 103p/kg for 83kg pigs from David Goldstraw, Meerbrook who also sold 83.5kg pigs for 102p/kg. J & B Fentem sold cutters at 96p/kg, 93p/kg, 92p/kg and 90p/kg.
Bacon pigs sold up to 97p/kg for a 91kg pig from P J Bowers, Mow Cop, with 90kg & 91kg pigs at 94p/kg from Massie Farms, Stafford. 94p/kg for 85.5kg pigs from J Davenport, Gawsworth and 93p/kg for 91kg pigs from Bernard Minshull and 92p/kg for 87kg pigs from J & B Fentem.
Heavy pigs sold up to 89p/kg for 117.5kg pigs from M R Banham, Bromsgrove. PF & PD Parsons sold 116kg pigs for 80p/kg, 76p/kg and 74p/kg.

The best easy to sell but a number of smaller or plainer calves about certainly had their effect on the averages. 14 best topped £310 to a high of £435 for a posh Blue from Robert Gray, Sheffield. Mediums £230 – £300 with smaller calvers around £200.
