A busy November sale including the monthly Pedigree Sale which saw an unbelievable trade with Pedigree’s peaking at £3000 for a second calver from the Eason family. 9 other milkers over the £2000 mark.
Lambs continue to sell at a pace with the average at £114/head or 265p/kg! Top prices today of 316p/kg or £152.71. Cull ewes also in good demand with the best meated sorts to £158 and averaging at £101 overall!
More barren cattle forward this week and sold well for the time of year, with the best to 154p/kg and black & white’s to 130p/kg to top at £1336.50.
Calves sold very well this week, with some remarkable prices achieved with 6 over £400 to top at £450 for a Blue Bull Calf and heifers up to £288.
Another bumper entry of butchers pigs this week with trade being stronger topping at 134p/kg for butchers pigs.

Twice as many cattle forward this Tuesday and trade generally a little less as in line with national trends. Top price of 154p/kg for a 745kg British Blue from E L Pederick, Osmaston, with a 610kg Limousin at 148p/kg from D A Naylor, Glossop. Other Blues topped at 146p/kg for a 555kg cow and a 745kg British Blue at 143p/kg from Adam Shaw, Sturston.
Black & whites topped at 130p/kg for a 715kg Holstein from WSW Mills, and a 765kg Friesian at 127p/kg from G J Tideswell, Marchington.

A 785kg Hereford steer realised 141p/kg for P G Sims, Yeldersley.

A scorching trade for milkers on Tuesday saw a top of £3000, the highest price reached this year and 9 pass the £2000 mark.
Catching the eye of many was a beautiful second calver Broomhouse Agronaut Koo from the Easom family of Oakerthorpe. By Mr Rubi-Agronaut she had given just over 8000kg as a heifer. Sold giving 44kg she was finally clinched by Bill Bradbury of Earl Sterndale for £3000.
Another from the same home, a heifer Broomhouse Victor Pearl by Glamour Boghill Victor reached £2440. She too went to Messrs Bradbury. The Easoms had two others reach £2340 and £2300. The first a heifer went to Messrs Truman of Melton Mowbray and the second, a second calver to Andrew Hulme of Basford.
Andrew Weston of Litton had a heifer to £2420. By Peak Altarecoil she was giving 28kg and went to Messrs Truman of Melton Mowbray.
The same purchaser also took home two of Ray Turners heifers of Rownall at £2320 and £2260.
All milkers averaged a superb £1517.
British Friesian In-calf heifers from Messrs Creswell of Atlow topped at £1920 to average £1624 with heifer calves to £370.

A good entry forward again and trade sharper on the week with prices up again. Pork pigs sold up to 115p/kg for a 70kg pig from J & B Fentem, Alsop and a 69kg pig at 107p/kg for Lockett Bull Hire, Heaton.
Cutting pigs sold up to 131p/kg for 77kg pigs from P J Saunders, Lichfield, who also sold 82kg pigs at 119p/kg. A 79kg pig realised 124p/kg for PF & PD Parsons, with J & B Fentem selling cutters at 118p/kg (x2), 117p/kg, 112p/kg and 110p/kg.
Bacon pigs much better sold this week up to 134p/kg for 91kg pigs from Bernard Minshull, with a pair of 98kg pigs at 130p/kg from PF & PD Parsons, with D J Pope, Thame selling pigs at 130p/kg, 129p/kg, 128p/kg and 125p/kg with a trio of 87kg pigs at 125p/kg from PF & PD Parsons and Bernard Minshull selling another pen at 122p/kg.
Heavy pigs topped at 119p/kg for a pair of 108kg pigs from Dave Goldstraw, Meerbrook who also sold 111kg and 119kg pigs at 101p/kg. A 111kg pig made 114p/kg from PF & PD Parsons, Whitchurch and 106kg pigs at 101p/kg from W Rigby & Son, Chinley.
Cull sows better sold on the day up to 53p/kg for a 205kg sow from JA & B Minshull, Buxton who also sold a 250kg sow at 51p/kg. Rigby’s sold sows at 41p/kg and 37p/kg (x4).

A reasonable entry selling on a solid trade albeit less than last weeks eye watering prices. Overall though the lambs average 10p/kg less or £4/head. SQQ coming in at 265p/kg and overall average of £114/head.
Best lambs still a strong trade but less of the very best sorts about generally. Best to 316p/kg from James Gilman of Bosley with best sorts generally 280p and above. Big lambs again adding up well, topping at £152.71 but perhaps showing the most price resistance.

An unbelievable trade today that was really all Blues with just 1 Charolais and 1 Simmental in the entry. 5 over £400 with another 9 over £350 and just 8 under £250. Buyers certainly had to work hard today. Blues sold to a top of £450 for a super sort from Alan Mosedale, Longford with Andrew Hulme at £420; John Hawkins at £410; Richard Hill at £410 and Andrew Cotton at £405 & £395. Mediums generally £290 – £330.
