CULL SHEEP (553);
A bumper entry which unfortunately coincided with a national downturn in trade and some regular buyers choosing to ‘miss a week’ due to lack of demand.

Lean sorts very difficult to sell and understandably farmers are choosing to prioritise grass in other directions rather than improving cull stock. Fortunately, a number of grazing buyers today taking any stock with potential to improve.

Best sorts remain a competitive trade, topping at £160 for heavy Texel’s and continental ewes generally £120 for heavy sorts.

Mules difficult to sell, as is the story elsewhere. Best sorts at £110 but plenty at £60 – £80.

Overall average of £68/head but a very poor show of quality overall.
