CALVES (134)

Auctioneer – Holly Swift (07973 982453)
Nice to be back in the box after a few weeks away and a record day with a very smart British Blue (1 month) from Furness and Taylor selling for £1070. Generally, another good show of quality and some more new vendors giving us a try. Trade I would suggest is up on the week for bulls, but heifers do look less.
43 CONTINENTAL BULLS
Only four over the £700 mark this week with the medium to better end perhaps looking a shade less and the smaller to mediums feeling dearer. Unbelievable scenes as a British Blue bull raced away to £1070. Averages up on the week…
26 Blues av £574 to £1070 Furness & Taylor
9 Lims av £568to £650 J Kirkham
5 Sims av £519 to £620 TD & DA Higginson
2 Char av £625 to £650 DW & P Hulme
1 Blon to £550 WH Townsend & Son
35 CONTINENTAL HEIFERS
Mirroring Oliver’s comments of last week, the heifers do look more buyable than previous weeks/months. Still up to £685 for a Blonde heifer and well over 2/3rds above £400.
24 Blues av £402 to £635 D Johnson
4 Blon av £425 to £485 WH Townsend & Son
3 Sims av £428 to £520 JC&D Hudson
3 Lims av £512 to £580 J Kirkham
1 Char to £350 J Hughes
43 NATIVES
An unreal trade as always – averages up for the bulls but again, heifers a touch less.
3 AA Bulls av £572 to £575 NG, JMH & H Mellor
7 Here Bulls av £509 to £570 JW & MS Platchford
6 S/H Bulls av £347 to £400 LTL Partners
