Tuesday saw the Dairy shed in full swing once again with the Pedigree Sale reaching highs of £2800 and 18 over the £2000 mark
Good number of pigs forward topping at 203p/kg for fats
1272 head of sheep forward with a top price of 336p/kg to see a top headage price of £174.72 with Ewes to £161/head
133 Calves forward, similar numbers to last week, with a Limousin bull topping at £465 and a British Blue heifer to £295

A similar entry with some decent quality cows on offer.
Top price of the day was 219p/kg for a 705kg Limousin cow from Frank Heath of Market Drayton to gross £1543.95, closely followed by another Limousin cow, weighing 635kg, which sold at 216p/kg from the same vendor, to gross at £1371.60.
SB Mellor & Son of Winkhill sold a 735kg British Blue cow to 189p/kg to gross £1389.15 with an Aberdeen Angus cow weighing 745kg, for MK & DL Griffin of Ashbourne, selling to 176p/kg to gross £1311.20.
An overage Aberdeen Angus steer, weighing 690kg, for PG Sims of Ashbourne, topped at 200p/kg to gross £1380.00.
Overall average achieved was 156p/kg.
CLEAN CATTLE
A small entry of clean cattle with a 530kg Charolais heifer, from JF Barber of Quarnford, topping the day at 180p/kg to gross at £954/head.

A good number of pigs forward today, quality less on the whole with trade similar to last week. Top price 203p for fat pigs and 90p for sows.
Porkers topped at 188p for Sam Harper who had others at 185p.
Cutters topped at 200p from J&B Fentem. Sam Harper to 196p and Wendy Stamper to 196p & 190p for gilts and 186p and 185p for boars.
Bacon pigs topped 203p twice for Massie Farms who had a run to 202 x3 and 201p. J&B Fentem to 202p. B Minshull to 200p x3. Dave Goldstraw had boars to 198p. Chris Hine to 195p.
Heavies sold to 190p for Dave Goldstraw who had others to 170p and 160p. JA&B Minhsull had heavies to 160p and 140p.
Sows sold to 90p for J&B Fentem who had another at 70p. Chris Hine sold to 80p.

A solid trade throughout for milkers saw the best up to £2800 for a powerful Westcoast Almamater heifer from the Mellor Family of Earl Sterndale. She went to Andrew Hulme of Basford who also took a second from the same home at £2600.
Close behind at £2700 was a Hartford Rubi-Taz daughter from the Weston Family of Roston, she also went to A Hulme.
Michael Wainwright of Buxton saw his DG Donte daughter reach £2550.
Overall, 18 passed the £2000 mark.

A good entry, selling on a solid trade, being a shade sharper on the week.
Best to sell are the heavier lambs, and the best of them are easily coming to £140 + up to a top of £174.72.
Best shaped lambs to 336p/kg and numerous pens at 300p and better from a large number of vendors.
A lot of small lean lambs forward again, which distorts the average, and are facing store lamb prices.
Overall average a very pleasing 278p/kg for a mixed sample.

Look at the averages with some superb prices throughout, particularly in the mid-range. Best, as always, a joy to sell with the best four over £400 and a top of £465 for a tremendous Limousin from Andy Williamson. Mediums £250 to £330 with just a handful under the £250 mark.
