TOP OF £2980

A bl**dy fantastic day, that’s the only way to describe it. A really quality entry which was justly rewarded with a scorching trade throughout all categories.

The day started with a great run of calves nearly all of which were £300+ topping at £350.

The trade for milkers surpassed all expectations with a good proportion of the entry £2000 and above. Taking top honours was the Shepherd family fresh back from their successes at the Yorkshire Show. A Secretariat daughter giving 40kg caught the eye of Andrew Hulme who took her home to Basford at £2980. They also had a second heifer, a Westcoast Ardor daughter to £2750 to the Bradbury family of Earl Sterndale.

Hot in pursuit were the Critchlow family of Cubley who saw their best heifer reach £2920 to N Moss of Meerbrook. Their second heifer made £2780 to a regular purchaser. A second calver from the same home reached £2800 to L Neville of Matlock.

In-calf heifer topped at £1780 from G Forrester of Abbots Bromley with a Shorthorn In-calf heifer from Messrs Darwin of Sheffield to £1720.

We were fortunate to have a superb entry of youngstock from two very good Derbyshire herds. These were keenly sought after with 14-16 month old heifers repeatedly exceeding £1000 to top at £1130.

Plenty of sales being booked. Keep your eyes pealed on the Facebook page.
