Cows to £3220
* 4x £3000+ * 30x £2000+ *
What a day!!! We thought last month’s Pedigree Sale surpassed all trade expectations however the October sale really kicked it into touch.

Including a lovely entry of Shorthorns, part of the on-going partnership Leek Auctions has with the Shorthorn Society, there was no shortage of numbers with over 90 catalogued for the sale.

Credit to our vendors there was some real quality on offer and all were rewarded with a truly exceptional trade.

The top price came within the cows for a superb second calver by ABS Outback from the Broomhouse Herd of Messsrs Easom of Oakerthorpe. Having given just short of 9800kg as a heifer she was sold giving a whopping 47kg eventually being clinched by John Bayley of Nuneaton. The Easoms saw their second cow by Flowrider reach £2720 to Messrs Bennett of Market Drayton.

The Marshall family of Linton, Swadlincote returned to sell after a long hiatus with 4 tremendous heifers from their Overseal herd. Two out of the four reached £3000 both heading to Andrew Hulme of Basford with the others to £2900 and £2700 to Messrs Neville of Rushley.

The Mellor family of Earl Sterndale also saw their heifer reach £3000.

Numerous others were in that £2500-£3000 bracket including a Nacash daughter from the Shieldhouse herd of Eric Weston of Roston that reached £2900.

Shorthorns were much sought after with two heifers from the well known Amber herd of Messrs Hole reaching £2120 and £2040. Richard Harper saw his second calver reach £2020.

Young Holstein calves sold well to £320 with Shorthorn bulling heifers to £920.

A good entry of Stock Bulls sold exceptionally well with the first through the ring, a 29 month old pedigree Limousin from James Hodgkinson of Earl Sterndale reaching £3000 to F Yates of Longford. However it was the British Blue from Nicky Beardsley and her son Harvey that stole the show selling to £4000 to A Mayer of Brown Edge.

Trade continues to strengthen so if you have stock to sell or thinking of a herd dispersal get in touch.
