A very varied entry with something for everyone to include Shorthorn, Fresh Holstein and In-Calvers.
David Brailsford topped the day at £2320 for a fresh Honeycroft heifer giving 26kg, more milky cattle could definitely have been sold.
Chesterfield vendor Richard Lomas saw in-calvers to £1760 while the Kirkham Family exhibited two sweet bagged dairy Shorthorns to a top of £1890 to average £1885.
Milky 4th calved grazing system cows to £1740.
14 days’ time, 15th April, is the Pedigree Sale and the Herd Dispersal for Mr David Wrench of Marton (see advert below), attendance is thoroughly recommended with milk in abundance and something for everyone.

A reduced entry as expected saw a two-tier trade. Best shaped, well finished hoggs at 38-45kg selling very well and certainly no less on the week, however heavy hoggs very hard to place, as are the under finished types.
Best hoggs to 409p/kg and plenty at 370p and better.
Majority of 48kg and above 280p – 310p/kg and very heavy (55kg plus) at 250p – 380p/kg.
