BARREN COWS Selling time – 10:00am Auctioneer – Graham Watkins (07976 370894) Barren cows seeing a good trade once again with the top price of 286p/kg for a Simmental cow weighing 570kg from J D Alcock of Elkstones.
A 685kg Hereford cow from LAJ Turner & Son of Rownall topped the headage price of the day at £1781, selling to 260p/kg.
A Holstein cow weighing 530kg sold to 254p/kg to achieve £1346 for Foker Grange Farm of Leek.

34 Dairy cattle and Dairy bred Calves.
An early month entry with all categories available and a run of dairy calves from an existing vendor who has newly opened from the old blue tongue restriction zone.
In the milkers, Charlie and Isobel Plant took top price at £2700 for a fresh Holstein heifer, sold giving 34kg to the Brassington family at Kingsley Moor.
A stylish Danish Red heifer from John Bennett at Thornhill raced away to £2600 for a strong heifer giving 30kg.
In-calf heifers topped at £2050 for Mike Hulse with a crossbred heifer, in-calf to sexed Norwegian Red at 25 months old.
In-calf cow section, Dave and Tom Howe topped at £1920 with others at £1600.
A special entry of Friesian youngstock heifer calves attracted particular interest to a top of £400. All these calves were February 2025 to May 2025 born with a string of brighter sorts £330 plus and the very best seven averaging £376 per head.

37 CONTINENTAL BULLS Some excellent calves on offer but more smaller or younger calves on offer generally. First time vendor Messrs Shone of Bradnop claimed the top price with their run of eight British Blue bulls and heifers that topped at £725 (36 days) for a well presented bull. Best bulls generally £540 – £665. Mediums £450 – £530 with just a handful under £450.
