Despite the amount of people silaging at the moment, we saw another busy Tuesday in Leek with 202 cattle and 912 sheep on offer.
The dairy shed was in full swing with the Pedigree Sale seeing a top price of £2120.
Once again, the calves were a roaring trade with a British Blue Bull topping at £485.
Some good quality pigs on offer, seeing 247p/kg for fats.

Another very sharp trade, seeing a top price of 198p/kg for a 535kg Hereford cow, from KW Cresswell with a 700kg Holstein from JW Campbell at 196p/kg and a 695kg Friesian at 190p/kg for J Brough & Son.
The heaviest cow of the day was an 860kg Holstein, from WE Turnock & Sons, which was sold at 187p/kg, with a 690kg Aberdeen Angus from NG & P Sidebottom at 180p/kg and a 705kg Holstein from JW Campbell at 178p/kg.
Top headage price of the day was £1608.20, £1461.80, and £1372.00.

Probably the dearest trade for some time. A good show of quality pigs was met with a sharp trade for all types with nothing under 173p on the day. Top call 247p for fats and 90p for Sows.
Only a single porker to 234p for B Vernon.
Cutters topped at 247p from PF & PD Parsons who had others at 228p. J&B Fentem sold to 241p, 238p, 237p.B Minshull sold to 236p.
Bacon Pigs sold to 246p from PF&PD Parsons, others to 235p, 234p. J&B Fentem to 241p, 232p. C Hine sold to 231p and B Minshull 230p x2.
A single pen of heavies sold to 186p from PJ Saunders.
Sows sold to 90p from PJ Saunders and 80p from Marsden & Paddock. Single cull boar sold to 66p.

TOP OF £2120
With silaging fever in full swing, there were a few less people around the Dairy Ring on Tuesday. However, trade still topped at £2120 for a Stantons Applicable daughter from the Shepherd family of Hassop. They also saw a second of their heifers reach £2100.
The first cow through the ring. A Swedish Red X from Mick and Kay Hulse of Consall reached £2020. Two very milky cows from the Mellor family of Earl Sterndale made £2110 and £2000.
The Shorthorn entry topped at £1540 for a second calver from the Brindley family of Adderley. Youngstock from the Baileys of Oswestry reached £590.
Next week we have a consignment of 50 fresh Friesians from Messrs Waterfall. An abundance of milk on offer all from grass, they are well worth a look (See advert below).
