A busy Tuesday in Leek with the Dairy section kicking off with some beautiful Calves topping at £275 for a 36 day old Heifer.
A good show of lambs this week and lots of quality selling on a solid trade. Best lambs up to 300p/kg and £140.16, to average 253p/kg overall. Cull sheep well sought after, with the best to £169 and average of £91.
Not enough barren cattle for the buyers and more required each week please! Top prices of 169p/kg for Bazadaise.
Pigs continue to sell at a pace, Sows on fire to 145p and Stores to £104/head.
Less Calves on offer this week but sales still looking similar and plenty of buyers on hand.

An entry of cattle generally requiring further finishing saw good competition up to 224p/kg for a 460kg Aberdeen Angus Steer from E T Simpson and another 420kg
Aberdeen Angus Steer from the same vendor at 218p/kg
A 605kg Hereford Steer for T J Partington of Burton-on-Trent achieved 215p and a 590kg Hereford Steer from the same vendor 213p.

Well what a trade the averages very much do speak from themselves and long may it continue No fats below 210p today topping at 243p. Sows on fire to 145p and Stores to £104/head.
Porkers toped at 236p fro J&B Fentem. DH & J Poulson, Carmarthen had porkers to 234p and R Watson, Chester had pigs to 230p.
Cutters topped at 242p from J&B Fentem who had others to 241p, 240p, 238p. DH&J Poulson had pigs to 239p R&L Vernon had boars to 227p.
Baconer topped at 243p from Massie Farms who had others to 242p, 242×3, 240p x2. MC&EA Beattie had pigs to 241p x2, 240p, 239×2, DB Goldstraw had pigs to 240p and PF+PD Parsons had pigs to 239p.
Sows topped at 145p or £338 from DH&J Poulson who had another to 122p.
Abbotsholme School had a nice pen of 8 Store pigs weighing 40kg realising £104/head.

The sale commenced with some beautiful calves from Richard Toon and the Sigley Family at Consall. Topping at £275 for a 36 day old Heifer from the Sigley’s and Mr Toon topped at £245.
In the milkers, top call at £1800 twice for both cows and heifers.
Oliver Easom at Broom House Farm topped the cows with a pedigree second calver sold giving 43kg to PJ Yates at Kedleston.
The heifers, again at £1800 for the Riley’s of Longnor, sold giving 28kg and recently calved, caught the eye of Dave Clowes at Lower Above Park Farm.
Stronger British Friesian type heifers in the £1400 – £1500 range for those 25kg and above.
