A similar trade in the Barrens with a top price of the day of 217p/kg for a 540kg Friesian to give a headage price of £1171.80 for RG & AS Williamson of Wetley Rocks.
A 455kg Hereford for S P Taylor of Packmoor sold to 195p/kg to produce a headage price of £887.25.
A P Wain of Forsbrook sold a 675kg Limousin to 185p/kg to produce a headage price of £1248.75.
The top headage price of the day was £1409.95 for an 815kg Holstein for S D Preece of Edingale which sold to 173p/kg.
Overall average was 147p/kg.
CLEAN CATTLE
A small entry of clean cattle with a 535kg Aberdeen Angus steer selling to 238p/kg to produce a headage price of £1273.30, for TJ Partington of Burton on Trent, who also sold a 595kg British Blue steer to 224p/kg to give a headage price of £1332.80.
A pleasing overall average of 231p/kg was achieved.

A larger entry of 123 pigs forward today, a better show of pigs on the whole. Gilts generally 190-200p and boars 180-190p. Top price 206p for fat pigs and 104p for sows.
Porkers sold to 187p for boars from J&B Fentem.
Cutters sold to 204p for J&B Fentem who had others at 198p and 186p. S Bailey to 203p. only lean under finished types 120-140p.
Bacon pigs sold to a solid trade topping at 204p from JG Belfield who had others to 202p. Massie Farms to 202p, 201px2 and 200p. D Goldstraw to 201p J&B Fentem, PF+PD Parsons and B Minshull all to 200p.
Heavies sold well to 194p for 106kg gilts for JG Belfield who had others to 192p, 187p & 180p. PF+PD Parsons sold to 171p for a 110kg boar.
Sows sold very well to 104p for A Shinton, Ellesmere who had another at 82p. M Paddock sold to 100p.

Another strong trade for cows saw the commercial entry top at £2220 and the herd peak at £2520.
Frank Cookson of Altrincham topped the day within the commercials for his fresh heifer with Mick and Kay Hulse’s Swedish Red X fourth calver topping the cows at £2060.
The herd sale on behalf of the Shuker family sold on a fast trade hitting £2520 for a fresh heifer with another Brown Swiss X heifer reaching £2260.
An August calved cow by Grazie made £2220 with the whole herd averaging a superb £1620.

Very best quality bulls, at 28 days old, sold to £435 for a stunner for Messrs Wilkinson, Great Budworth, with the top four over £350. Mediums generally £280-£340 looked best sold on the day with just a few smalls under £220.
