A decent trade for barrens this week seeing a top price of 180p/kg for a 800kg Hosltein from WG & J Clark, Bradnop and a 635kg Re Poll to 174p/kg for PA McLaughlin. A 630kg Charolais realised 173p/kg for S Kidd Farmers, Longnor and a 715kg Holstein at 170p/kg for E Morten & sons, Barmoor Clough.

SPECIAL ENTRY TO £2160 AV £1719
Another superb trade for dairies on Tuesday saw a top price within the commercials of £2580 for a 31kg heifer from the Needham family of Rushton. She went to David Curtis of Basford who also went on to take a second heifer at £2420 from Andrew & Marcus Callwood of Ollerton.
Andrew Mills of Ratcliffe on Wreake saw his heifer make £2200 to Eric Allen of Windley who also took the top priced cow at £2180 also from the Needhams.
The commencement of the dispersal on behalf of Richardson family of Plumley, Knutsford attracted much interest with trade surpassing all expectations. Topping at £2140 for a December calved fourth calver the entire entry averaged a superb £1719.

A much-reduced entry from last week’s poor trade, demand and trade much more positive this week with those best pigs met with competitive bidding. Plainer feeding types harder to place but also finding homes at respectable prices. Top price 186p/kg twice from S Bailey, Biddulph for 84kg pigs and 93kg pigs.
Porkers topped at 177p/kg for 68kg pigs from PJ Barker, Charnwood, others from the same home sold to 166p/kg for 66kg pigs. J&B Fentem, Allsop En-Le Dale sold 74kg pigs to 166p/kg twice and 70kg pigs to 150p/kg.
Cutters sold to 186p/kg from S Bailey, Knypersley for an 84kg pig. J&B Fentem, Alsop En-Le Dale sold 80kg pigs to 180p/kg, others from the same home sold to 172p/kg, 168p/kg, 165p/kg x2. JA&B Minshull, Buxton sold an 82kg pig to 177p/kg.
Bacon Pigs were a solid trade for those best sorts, top price 186p/kg for a 93kg pig from S Bailey, Knypersley, who sold others to 180p/kg. JA&B Minshull, Buxton sold 95 pigs to 181p/kg, others from the same home sold to 178p/kg for an 88kg pig and 88kg pigs to 172p/kg. J&B Fentem, Alsop En-Le Dale. Sold 89kg pigs to 178p/kg. PF&PD Parsons sold 89kg pigs to 173p/kg, others from the same home realised 170p/kg, 169p/kg.
Heavy Pigs were more a struggle today with only 3 on offer and quality varied. Top price 90p/kg for a 119kg pig from Roston Farms, others from the same home realised 84p/kg and 70p/kg for 118kg and 117kg pigs.
Just the one sow today from C Hine, Biddulph realising 44p for a 242kg sow.

Less on offer and a solid trade, particularly for the medium bulls today. Best good to sell as always and a posh bull from Messrs Swindells, Chelmorton topped the day at £420 (19 days). Other 1st grade bulls generally £300 plus. Medium bulls £220 -£280 with a few smaller sorts under £200.
