The last Tuesday sale of November saw a quieter day albeit sections saw good numbers forward and a competitive trade.
A good show of barren cattle forward saw a mixed trade but still firm for the meated sorts, selling up to 198p/kg for a Limousin and black & whites to 178p/kg. A shortage of clean cattle saw the best to 212p/kg.
A few less lambs about this week and a similar trade to last week, with the best selling well to 281p/kg, and overall average of 242p/kg and £104.26/head. More lambs required every week please! Cull sheep continue on a sharp trade, with the best types to £156.
Dairies sold up to £2100 for heifers with a mixed entry forward. Cows topped at £2020 for Friesians.
A better enquiry for calves this week, saw a smaller entry sell well, topping at 390 for Blue Bull calves and Blue heifers to £270.
In the pig section saw a strong trade for fat pigs again, with the best topping at 200p/kg twice for Bacon pigs, and cutters to 191p/kg.

A good entry sold on a solid trade, seeing the best up to 198p/kg for a 820kg Limousin from G J Plant, Dilhorne. A 715kg Ayrshire realised 178p/kg from D & JK Mellor, Onecote; a 655kg Simmental sold for 177p/kg from M R Beardmore, Ipstones and 176p/kg for a 700kg Charolais from J F Barber, Quarnford.

A small entry sold up to 212p/kg for a 555kg British Blue steer from N D Gibbs, Butterton.
Black & White bulls sold up to 209p/kg for a 620kg Friesian from J E Archer & Sons, Hilton, with others at 207p/kg for a 615kg bull, 207p/kg for a 590kg bull and 206p/kg for a 635kg bull.

A mixed quality forward on Tuesday still met a strong trade with prices topping at £2100 for a fresh heifer from Messrs Darwin of Sheffield. She went to Messrs Parkes of Melton Mowbray.
Close behind at £2000 was another fresh heifer, this time from Trevor & Pat Swinson, Caverswall. She want to Messrs Robinson of Rudyard.
Friesians reached £2020 for a lovely cow from Richard Thompson of Sudbury. She went to Messrs Critchlow of Wheston.

Trade similar to previous weeks if not slightly dearer. Top price today 200p/kg from D Goldstraw, Meerbrook and Massie Farms, Stafford.
Porkers dearer on the week averaging 169.5p/kg. Top price 188p/kg from P J Saunders, Lichfield for 78kg gilts. Others from the same home achieved 180p/kg, 168p/kg and 166p/kg. J&B Fentem, Allsop en-le Dale had a trio of 74kg pigs to 158p/kg and a 74kg pig to 150p
Cutters topped at 191p/kg for 88kg pigs from Massie Farms, Stafford who had 84kg pigs to 188p/kg. They also sold 84kg pigs to 188p/kg and others to 182p/kg, 179p/kg, 177p/kg and 174p/kg.
Baconers topped at 200p/kg twice for 99kg gilts from D Goldstraw, Meerbrook and 92kg pigs from Massie Farms, Stafford who had others to 197p/kg and 190p/kg. PF & PD Parsons, Whitchurch has 99kg pigs to 194p/kg and a 97kg pig to 190p/kg.
Heavies topped at 188p/kg for a 110kg pig from PF & PD Parsons, R Rowlinson, Ramshorn had a 127kg gilt to 154p/kg and a 134kg Gilt to 150p/kg. A J Norbury has 106kg pigs to 140p/kg and AJ Brighouse & Son, Wilmslow had a 125kg pig to 124p/kg and a 144kg pig to 116p/kg
Meated sows in demand. Top price 121p/kg for a 209kg sow from Roston Farms Ltd, Roston who had a 286kg sow to 76p/kg. J G Belfield, Sheen had a 279kg sow at 74p/kg and J W Bennett, Abbots Bromley had a 208kg sow to 74p/kg and 62p/kg

Another solid entry and a brisk trade, generally but leaner sorts perhaps not quite as fast.
Best rams to £170 and best ewes to £156 for Texels. More best ewes could be sold and a shortage of best heavy ewes again.
Best Mules to £122 and meated sorts generally £80 plus.
Overall average at £79 included a number of lean hill types.
