TUESDAY 31st MARCH 2026

A sunny Tuesday brings a spring in the step for all stock in the market today with strong prices achieved across the board.

Barrens to 254p or £2146.20 for a Holstein cow from D&J Moseley

A large show of pigs sold to 215p or £224.00 for fats to average 167p and sows to 43p

Dairies to £3050 for the Kennerley Family. 

Springers well in demand and an exceptional trade selling to 655p or £280 to average 559 or £217.

Hoggs as dear as last week selling to 494p or £228/head. Ewes selling to £275

Similar number of claves selling to £950 for Blue Bulls.

A nice entry post bank holiday and a solid trade seen for the goods on offer. Top price on the day 254p or £2146.30 for D&J Moseley for a Holstein cow.

An Aberdeen Angus stock bull sold to 286p to gross £2302.30 for Pearson & Son.

A nice run of milkers forward saw the best heifer to £3050 from the Kennerley family

of Betley, Crewe. A Delta Lambda daughter, she was sold giving 36kg.

A neat heifer from the Broadley family made £2400.

Dairy Shorthorn youngstock topped at £700.

Spring Lambs (24)

A small entry after last weeks show seeing an exceptional demand and more required weekly!

Best lambs selling to 665p/kg for a wonderful pen from Rob and Andy Williamson of Wetley Rocks. Best big lambs selling to 600p/kg and gross an exceptional £280/head. 

The averages tell the story; 559p/kg or £217.33/ head including some light weight types.

More next week please as two orders were unable to get started.

Hoggs (747)

A very pleasing entry for bank holiday Tuesday seeing demand holding very firm and all regular orders operating.

Best types continue to attract a premium, selling to 494p/kg, and plenty at 450p and better. Big types grossing up very well, with heavies averaging just over £200/head. 

Overall averages being 432p/kg SQQ, 409p/kg overall and £192/head, for what was generally a lower quality show of sheep.

Just one more in number than last week and more could of have been sold. Calves’ nit quite selling to the four figures like last week but still topping at a very pleasing £950, with the mediums feeling a shade less generally.
