SHEEP SECTION
Selling time 11:00am
Auctioneer – Robert Watkins (07929 946652)
LAMBS (352)
A small entry on a miserable morning, after a miserable night. Trade slipped nationally over the last week or so, with many vendors choosing to get lambs heavier, all contributing to a smaller entry on the day.
Best types well bid for, topping at 354p/kg or £182.40/head.
40kg plus notably easier to sell than light weights and lean lambs difficult to place generally.

Overall average at 299.5p/kg, looking a soloid performance on the day and more could easily have been sold.

328p 40kg IE M & A Wilson, Hollington
330p 41.8kg FJ Gould & Son, Longnor
327p 44kg H White, Snelston
352p 45.3kg D Williams, Basford

A few old season, Hoggs, but no quality, selling to £111/head.

CULL EWES (162)
Slightly less ewes about to last week, not quite the quality on offer as last week and trade perhaps back a touch on the week. Top call for ewes £192 for texels from S&J Tablot, Uttoxeter. R Bailey saw £190 for Texels and GW Myatt saw £180.

Continental types generally £150.
Mules topped at £128
Plainer ewes £75-95.

Overall average £118.16

A good show of tups were met with a strong trade topping at £230 from R Basset who had others to £205.

5 Lims av £358 to £415 J Kirkham
