LAMBS (352)
A small entry on a miserable morning, after a miserable night. Trade slipped nationally over the last week or so, with many vendors choosing to get lambs heavier, all contributing to a smaller entry on the day.
Best types well bid for, topping at 354p/kg or £182.40/head.
40kg plus notably easier to sell than light weights and lean lambs difficult to place generally.

Overall average at 299.5p/kg, looking a soloid performance on the day and more could easily have been sold.

A few old season, Hoggs, but no quality, selling to £111/head.

Slightly less ewes about to last week, not quite the quality on offer as last week and trade perhaps back a touch on the week. Top call for ewes £192 for texels from S&J Tablot, Uttoxeter. R Bailey saw £190 for Texels and GW Myatt saw £180.

Continental types generally £150.
Mules topped at £128
Plainer ewes £75-95.

Overall average £118.16

A smaller entry on a very wet day at Leek but trade today was unreal, as dear as anyone can remember with fresh buyers about and prices not seen for ages.
What a shame there were not 128 as the buyers were on their best form. Nine bulls, one third of the entry, sailed over £400 with the best up to £458 for a British Blue from Andrew Hulme. Mediums today were
£290-£370 with only a few under £250.
14 Blues av £335 to £458 DW&P Hulme
3 Sims av £295 to £348 TD&DA Higginson
5 Lims av £358 to £415 J Kirkham
4 Char av £386 to £455 D&G Tudor
Just like the bulls, with all of the regular and seasonal buyers competing hard for the good quality entry. Best easily £300+ and up to £345 for a smart British Blue from Messrs Wilkinson, Great Budworth. Mediums £230-£270 and smalls under £200.
11 Blues av £241 to £345 R Wilkinson & Son
6 Sims av £227 to £310 TD&DA Higginson
5 Lims av £271 to £330 J Kirkham
Less on offer but trade strong.
4 Her Bulls av £162 to £170 SJ Hooley
2 AA Bulls av £191 to £250 DR&A Shuker
3 Her Heif av £195 to £238 SJ Hooley
