Store Cattle Sale Report 12th October

A total entry of 676 Store and Breeding Cattle were on offer on Saturday with a continuingly good trade with a large company of buyers in attendance looking for the best quality, well grown cattle in particular.

Breeding Section
In the breeding section, there was a top price of £1420 for a Shorthorn cow with a Shorthorn bull calf at foot from Quarnford with an Aberdeen Angus cow with a Limousin heifer calf at foot, from Messrs Johnson of Lichflield, selling for £1215 with another at £1200.

Feeding cows from Mark Cotterill of Knutton sold up to £1380 with other breeding heifers, from Messrs Myatt of Gratton, up to £1180.

Stock Bulls
A 17-month-old Simmental stock bull, from Messrs Bradley-Wainwright of Adlington, achieved £1485 with a 17-month-old pedigree bull, from FJ Dean & Son of Timbersbrook, at £1295.

Young Bulls
In the young bulls, there was a small entry with a pair of 10-month-old Aberdeen Angus bulls from Racheal Simcock of Rainow achieving £915.

Steers
There were 375 steers on offer which topped at a very pleasing £1785 paid for a 17-month-old Limousin, from Philip Nixon of Congelton, with another 18-month-old Limousin, from the same vendor, at £1690 and a further one at £1675.
Other Limousin, from David Curtis & Family of Basford, at 21 months old, sold up to £1490 (twice) with 14-month-old Limousin, from David Machin of Rudyard, at £1285.

Simmental steers, from George Hughes of Bucknall, at 23 months old, topped at £1650 with a pair of 22-month-old Simmental steers, for Messrs Bartram of Abbotts Bromley, at £1360.

Hereford steers from Roy Sant of Endon, at 29 months, sold to £1590 with a pair at 25-months-old, from Harry Seabridge of Stone, at £1585 and another 33-month-old Hereford, from Roy Sant, at £1500.

Blonde steers, from Laurence Beech of Congleton, at 21 months old, achieved up to £1510, Aberdeen Angus Steers, from Royston Pepper & Family of Apedale Newcastle, at 19 months of age, sold to £1420 with a 23-month-old Aberdeen Angus, from Ian Wilson & Family of Hollington, at £1415. A pair of 25-month-old Aberdeen Angus, from B & A Daniels & Sons of Mow Cop, sold for £1340.

Shorthorn steers from S Kent of Trent Vale, at 26 months old, sold for £1280.

British Blue steers, from David Curtis & Family, at 21 months old, achieved up to £1470 and another from George Hughes of Bucknall, at 21 months old, realised £1400.

South Devon steers, from Keith & Alison Wilton of Farifield Buxton, sold up to £1170 with Piemontese
Steers, from R Rowlinson of Ramshorn, at £1090.

Younger cattle sold up to £1075 for a pair at 11 months old from S Mellor & Sons of Winkhill with a bunch of eight Aberdeen Angus steers, from David Green & Family of Whiston, selling well at £850.

Overall average achieved for steers was a pleasing £915.07.

Heifers
There were 264 heifers on offer, seeing a top price of £1580 for a pair of 22-month-old British Blues from David Curtis & Family, with a 25-month-old British Blue heifer, from Ian Wilson & family of Hollington, for £1425 and a 28 month old British Blue heifer, from Laurence Beech of Congleton, at £1355.

Aberdeen Angus heifers, at 23 months old, from Messrs Goldstraw of Swinscoe, sold for £1560 with another pair of 19-month-old Aberdeen Angus heifers, from R Rowlinson & Sons of Ramshorn, at £1500.

Limousin heifers, from Laurence Beech, at 18 months old, sold for £1555 and a pair of 17-month-old Limousin, from the same vendor sold for £1405.

Charolais heifers, from Keith Grocott of Leigh, at 18 months old, topped at £1465 with another pair, from Ros Worthington of Edale, at 17 months, realising £1380 and Piemontese heifers, from R Rowlinson & Sons of Ramshorn, at 17 months old, realising £1230.

Hereford heifers topped at £1120 for a 27-month-old bunch of three, from Will Brydges of Biddulph, with Holstein heifers, from John Goldstraw & Family of Waterhouses, at £1080.

Young cattle, from Jimmy & Carol Hudson & Family of Wetton, 8 months old Simmental heifers, sold to £785 with a bunch of eight-month-old Aberdeen Angus, from David Green & Family of Whiston, at £730.

Overall average achieved for heifers was £848.54.
