A total of 455 Store and Breeding Cattle were on offer this week with plenty of buyers around the ring seeing spirited bidding throughout.
Breeding Section
There was an entry of three Limousin heifers with calves on offer from High Ash Estate LLP of Droylsden which sold to a top price of £2860 for a heifer with a bull calf at foot, another heifer with a female calf at foot sold to £2780 and another heifer with a bull calf sold to £2310. Limousin suckler cows sold to £2440, £2220 and £1760 for the same vendor.
Stock Bulls
A pure Simmental bull at 30 months of age sold to £2010 for W Napier of Coalville with a Limousin bull achieving £2000 for M & D Barber of Blore and a Pedigree Hereford bull at 18 months old sold to £1900 for S J Booth of Lymm.
Young Bulls
A Shorthorn bull at 16 months old sold to £1830 from Ipstones with a 16-month-old Limousin achieving £1680 for AS & EL Heathcote & Son of Rainow who also had another at 14 months to £1500. An Aberdeen Angus bull sold to £1470 for D Swinson of Rushton Spencer.
Steers
There were 182 steers on offer with a top price of £2290 being paid for a 25-month-old Blonde from J R Gordon of Stockton Brook, who also had a 25-month-old Limousin achieving £2280.
British Blue steers sold to £2270 and £2240 at 24 months of age for S Jolley of Milton, a pair at 23 months of age sold to £2150 for K E Grocott of Leigh, a single 25 month old British Blue sold to £2100 for HT & M Dale & Son of Brereton and a pair at 23 months old sold to £2000 for LA & MA Done & Son of Bosley.
A bunch of 25-month-old Simmental steers sold well to achieve £2240 for David Richardson of Ipstones.
A 22-month-old Charolais sold to £2160 from Rushton Spencer.
Aberdeen Angus steers sold to £2140 at 16 months old for J A Bloor Agri Services of Overton who also had another at 17 months old to £2000, another pair from Rushton Spencer also achieved £2000 at 22 months old.
A pair of 24-month-old Hereford steers achieved £2010 for E T Simpson of Winkhill.
A 16-month-old South Devon from Rushton Spencer sold to £1880, a Montbeliarde at 23 months of age sold to K E Grocott of Leigh.
Younger cattle sold to £1950 for 15-month-old Limousin from H G Nutter of Grindon who also had a pair at 14 months old to £1920. Aberdeen Angus steers at 15 months old achieved £1900 for P Salt of Whiston.
The overall average for steers was £1346.87.
Heifers
There were 217 heifers on offer with a 27-month-old Aberdeen Angus topping at £2040 for D & EA Jeffery of Ashbourne. Pete Salt of Whiston had a pair of Aberdeen Angus at 18 months old to £1945.
A bunch of three Limousin sold particularly well at 15 months old to achieve £1960 for H G Nutter of Grindon with others selling to £1900, £1875 and £1795 from the same vendor, at 15 months old also.
A trio of British Blue heifers at 24 months of age sold to £1900 for K E Grocott of Leigh.
A pair of Hereford heifers at 23 months old sold to £1740 for D & EA Jeffery of Ashbourne.
Simmental heifers at 15 months old sold to £1660 for D Machin of Rudyard.
In the younger cattle, a bunch of three 14-month-old Limousin sold to £1700 for H G Nutter of Grindon, a bunch of three 13-month-old British Blue sold to £1610 for D Machin of Rudyard and a 12-month-old Limousin sold to £1380 for S & S Brain of Cresswell.
The overall average for heifers was £1093.60.
