Breeding Section
There is a shortage of breeding cattle with a Pure-Bred Limousin Cow with a British Blue Calf-at-foot
from Messrs Nicholls of Wetley Rocks selling for £1600 with a Pedigree Shorthorn Breeding Heifer at 18 months of age form Messrs Ball of Sandbach at £965 and a Limousin Breeding Heifer from Messrs Nicholls of Wetley Rocks at £955.
Other Breeding Heifers from D Fox of Waterhouses sold up to £1010 for a Limousin 16-month-old Heifer with the same vendor selling a Pedigree Limousin Stock Bull at 41 months of age for
£1900.
In the Young Bulls section, an entry from Messrs Evans of Gawsworth topped at £1285 for a 26-month-old Charolais with a 19 month old Charolais from the same vendor at £1145 and a 14 month old at £885.
Steers
In the Steers section the highlight of the day was £1715 paid for a 28-month-old Limousin from James Gilman & Partners of Bosley with a 25 month old Limousin from the same farmer at £1620 and a 28
month old Limousin at £1480.
Other Limousins sold up to £1300 at 25 months of age and £1195 for a 17-month-old from Messrs Lovatt of Rushton.
Saler Steers at 22 months of age from Keith Grocott of Leigh topped at £1470 with Aberdeen Angus Steers at 17 months of age from Messrs Harrison of School House Farm up to £1425, another 24-month-old Aberdeen Angus from Messrs Carbutt of Sandbank Farm at £1385 and a bunch of four from Messrs Latham of Weston Fields at 23 months of age, selling well for £1295.
British Blue Steers from Messrs Nash of Marchington sold up to £1395 at 21 months of age with four 19-month-old British Blue Steers from Messrs Hargreaves of Endon at £1355 and a bunch of six 19 month old from Messrs Potts of Astbury at £1235.
Hereford Steers from Keith Grocott of Leigh, sold up to £1290 at 14 months of age with Charolais from Ross Worthington of Edale at 18 months of age up to £1290 and Simmental from Robert Nicholls of Dayhills at 18 months of age selling particularly well at £1285.
A Welsh Black Bullock from Ken Gould from Thorncliffe at 17 months of age achieved £1230.
Friesians from Messrs Grocott of Leigh at 20 months of age sold up to £1120 with Norwegian Red Steers from Critchlow Bros of Sheen selling well at 23 months of age for £1115.
A Montbeliarde Steer from John Harvey & Family of Waterfall at 29 months of age sold for £1070.
A 7-month-old Limousin Steer from Messrs Riley of Sutton was well sold at £1060 with a Simmental 13 month old from J Bennison of Ipstones at £1055.
Overall average achieved for the 297 Steers on offer was £883.
Heifers
There were 248 Heifers on offer with the top price being £1430 for a pair of British Blue Heifers from Messrs Carbutt of Sandbank Farm with other British Blue Heifers at 22 months of age for Messrs Nash from Marchington at £1375.
A bunch of three 20-month-old Charolais Heifers from Messrs Nash of Marchington achieved £1385 with Limousin Heifers from James Gilman & Partners of Bosley, at 27 months of age, up to £1370 and £1305 for 19-month-old Heifers from Messrs Nash of Marchington.
A British Blue Heifer from Messrs Carbutt of Sandbank Farm at 22 months of age sold for £1280 with a Longhorn Heifer at 25 months of age from Keith Grocott of Leigh selling for £1260 and Hereford Heifers from Geoff Goodwin of Wetley Rocks at 26 months of age up to £1260.
An Aberdeen Angus Heifer from Ken Gould from Thorncliffe at 18 months of age achieved £1260 also with a pair of 23-month-old Aberdeen Angus Heifers from Messrs Carbutt of Sandbank Farm at £1210.
Blonde Heifers from Messrs Nash of Marchington at 18 months of age sold up to £1145 with a Charolais at 18 months of age for R Worthington of Edale at £1145.
A 7-month-old British Blue Heifer for Messrs Riley of Sutton sold for £930 with a 9-month-old British Blue Heifer from G Jones of Langley at £910.
Overall average achieved for Heifers was £797.86.
