A very pleasing entry of 660 Store and Breeding Cattle were on offer this week with plenty of buyers around the ring for all types of cattle.
Breeding Section
A dispersal of Belted Galloway from J J & K Cushing of Waterhouses topped the cow and calf section at £1890 and £1800 for two cows with steer calves. A pair of 8-month-old Belted Galloway heifers sold to £760 and £630 from the same vendor.
A Friesian cow with a heifer calf sold to £1760 for G B Millington of Wincle.
Stock Bulls
A Hereford stock bull sold to £1860 for N Brown of Marston Montgomery.
Young Bulls
A 16-month-old Limousin bull sold to £1960 for F Potter & Son of Yeaveley, a Hereford bull at 16 months od sold to £1455 for E T Simpson of Winkhill and a 17-month-old Welsh Black bull sold to £1450 for B D & M Hudson of Ipstones.
Steers
343 steers were on offer with a pair of Aberdeen Angus at 21 months old topping at £2340 from A & L Worthington of Knutsford, a 28-month-old Aberdeen Angus sold to £2330 for P W Massey of Macclesfield who also had a bunch of five at 29 months old selling to £2330. A 22-month-old Aberdeen Angus from CC & CJ Lovatt of Macclesfield achieved £2260.
British Blue steers at 18 months old sold to £2260 for F H White of Belper with a bunch of three at 20 months old achieving £2170 for A & L Worthington of Knutsford. A bunch of three British Blue at 26 to 27 months old achieved £2160 for H & R Nash of Marchington and a single at 25 months also sold to £2160 for G E Whitfield of Audley.
A 22-month-old Welsh Black steer from A & L Worthington of Knutsford sold to £2250.
A bunch of four Simmental steers at 19 months old sold to £2240 for RG & AS Williamson of Wetley Rocks
A Pair of Hereford steers sold to £2220 at 25 months of age for GW & TM Yates of Ashbourne with another pair at 30 months selling to £2160 for E T Simpson of Winkhill.
A bunch of six Limousin at 20 months old achieved £2140 for A & L Worthington of Knutsford.
Younger cattle sold well with a 12-month-old Limousin selling to £1790 for SB Mellor & Son of Winkhill.
The overall average for steers was a very pleasing £1502.26
Heifers
Aberdeen Angus topped the heifers with a single 31-month-old selling to £2120 for P B Wain of Gawsworth and a bunch of five at 20 months old achieving £1990 for O R Jones Agricultural of Gnosall.
A bunch of three British Blue heifers at 23 to 24 months old sold to £2110 for RG & AS Williamson of Wetley Rocks and a single at 21 months old sold to £2100 for A & L Worthington of Knutsford.
A 23-month-old Holstein sold to £2110 for RG & AS Williamson of Wetley Rocks.
A 17-month-old Limousin sold to £2070 for M & Hb Wayne of Ible.
Simmental at 18 months old achieved £1970 for RG & AS Williamson of Wetley Rocks.
In the younger cattle, a 12-month-old Limousin sold to £1530 for JB Rowlinson & Son of Gawsworth.
The overall average for heifers was £1192.18
