A good number of store and breeding cattle on offer today for the time of year with a total of 506 cattle on offer, a good company of buyers were in attendance and trade was sharp.
Breeding Section
A British Blue Cow with a Limousin X heifer calf sold to £1700 for M P Forrester of Southwell with the same vendor achieving £1560 for a Limousin cow with a Limousin heifer calf.
An Aberdeen Angus Suckler cow achieved £1500 for MB Jenks of Balterley.
Stock Bulls
A Limousin stock bull achieved £2420 for Roy Critchlow of Hollinsclough.
Young Bulls
In the young bulls, a 12-month-old British Blue sold to £1700 for JJ & WE Bower of Hyde, a 7-month-old Aberdeen Angus sold particularly well to £1180 for M B Jenks of Balterley and a 13-month-old Belted Galloway sold to £1140 for RE & KM Clowes of Cheadle.
Steers
A total of 266 steers were on offer with the top price being £2470 paid for a pair of Limousin steers at 25 months of age from Jason Jervis Partnership of Cheadle. A bunch of five Limousin steers at 26 months of age achieved £2300 for P J Stephens of Mottram St Andrew, a single Limousin steer at 26 months of age sold to £2280 for C E Hine of Biddulph and a single Limousin at 21 months of age sold to £2140 for RG & AS Williamson of Wetley Rocks. Amy Seabridge of Hollywood had a 16-month-old Limousin steer to £2085, and a bunch of four 14-month-old Limousin sold to £2080 for W T Mardling & Son of Hilderstone.
A British Blue Steer at 20 months of age sold to £2320 for RG & AS Williamson of Wetley Rocks, another single British Blue steer at 30 months of age sold to £2130 for Morson Bros of Hartington and a pair at 28 months old sold to £2000 for M Snape of Endon.
Simmental steers topped at £2300 at 20 months of age for RG & AS Williamson of Wetley Rocks, who also had another at 21 months of age to £2280.
Aberdeen Angus steers at 27 months of age sold to £2160 for P B Wain of Gawsworth, with a pair of Aberdeen Angus at 21 months of age achieving £2040 for P T Salt of Whiston.
A Charolais steer at 25 months old sold to £2120 for C E Hine of Biddulph with a pair at 21 months of age selling to £2020 for Pilkington Farmers of Hartington.
K & AE Wilton of Fairfield had a pair of South Devon steers at 16 months old selling to £2090, a pair of 25-month-old Hereford steers sold to £2060 for Jason Jervis of Cheadle and a Brown Swiss steer at 22 months of age sold to £1930 for RG & AS Williamson of Wetley Rocks.
Younger cattle sold well with an 11-month-old Limousin steer from WA & SR Williams of Knutsford achieving £2020 with another from the same vendor at 12 months old selling to £1920.
The overall average for steers was £1359.23.
Heifers
There were 225 heifers on offer, selling to a top price of £2030 for an Aberdeen Angus at 27 months of age for PB Wain of Gawsworth. Other Aberdeen Angus at 23 months of age sold to £1930 for RG & AS Williamson of Wetley Rocks and a bunch of four at 25 months old sold to £1900 for WA Durose & Son of Ashbourne.
A 25-month-old Hereford heifer sold to £2010 for K & M Ede & Son of Checkley.
RG & AS Williamson of Wetley Rocks had a pair of Simmental heifers at 21 months old achieve £2005, a single Limousin at 20 months old achieved £2000 for the same vendor with a bunch of four Limousin at 15 months of age selling to £1990 for W T Mardling & Son of Hilderstone.
A pair of Holstein heifers at 37 and 38 months of age sold to £1940 for J W Campbell of Tean.
British Blue heifers sold to £1935 for a pair at 21 months of age for RG & AS Williamson of Wetley Rocks and a bunch of three British Blue at 26 months of age sold to £1895 for LAJ Turner & Son of Rownall.
Younger cattle sold to £1570 for a 12-month-old Limousin from C W Prime of Dilhorne and another single Limousin at 12 months old sold to £1460 for P J Simpson of Winkhill.
The overall average for heifers was £1258.29.
