A smaller entry of Store and Breeding Cattle were on offer with 137 head seen and sold but there was a full ringside of buyers in attendance from a wide area.
Breeding Section
An entry of eight Dexter breeding heifers sold to a top of £770 for MJ Wain of Brassington.
Young Bulls
An entry of nine Aberdeen Angus bulls from J & M V Shore of Wildboarclough achieved a top price of £785.
Steers
75 steers were on offer with a top price of £2140 (x4) for Aberdeen Angus at 24 – 33 months of age for Joseph Torr Ltd of Rainow who also had another three at 24 – 25 months of age selling to £2090 and three more at 23 – 28 months old selling to £1720.
Adam Shaw of Sturston had a bunch of four Aberdeen Angus X steers at 17 – 19 months of age selling to £2080.
Charolais steers topped at £2070 for a pair at 16 months old from Rob Machin of Rudyard with a pair of British Blue steers at 16 – 17 months old selling to £1865 for the same vendor.
Simmental steers at 18 months old topped at £1785 for A & WA Sadler & Son of Great Wyrley with others at £1720 and £1670 for the same vendor.
A Friesian steer at 23 months old sold to £1510 for W Waters of Upper Hulme.
Younger cattle sold well with 13-month-old Aberdeen Angus steers selling to £1600 for D J Sherratt of Meerbrook.
J Hall of Longnor sold 6-month-old Limousin steers to £1100, 7-month-old Aberdeen Angus Steers to £1080 and 9-month-old British Blue steers to £1150.
JC & D Hudson of Longnor had 6 – 7-month-old Simmental to £900.
The overall average for steers was a very pleasing £1369.20.
Heifers
32 Heifers were on offer with Aberdeen Angus at £2070 at 32 months for JR & S Bloor of Holmes Chapel who also had another pair to £1995.
A bunch of four British Blue at 16 – 17 months old sold to £1845 for Rob Machin of Rudyard with another pair at £1695 for the same vendor.
A 19-month-old Hereford heifer at 19 months old sold to £1610 for The Red Lion Farm at Stone.
In the younger cattle, Charolais heifers at 12 months old sold to £1320 for JA Clowes & Sons of Cubley and a bunch of six Aberdeen Angus heifers at 8 – 10 months old sold to £845 for J & MV Shore & Son of Wilboarclough.
The overall average for heifers was a very pleasing £1438.13.
