Store Cattle Sale Report 6th December

A total entry of 537 Store & Breeding Cattle were on offer with a good show of buyers around the ring from a wide area.

Breeding Section
A Gloucester cow with a Simmental X male calf sold to £1150 for J F Deaville of Newtown who also had another similar outfit to £1070. A Belted Galloway cow with a Simmental X heifer calf sold to £1030 for the same vendor.

A Simmental heifer sold to £1920 for B & G Barlow & Son of Meerbrook with another at £1820 for the same vendor.

A Hereford cow sold to £1750 for J S Hine of Biddulph Park and a Blonde suckler cow achieved £1985 for the same vendor.

Young Bulls
An entry of 30 young bulls were on offer with an 18 month old British Blue topping the day at £1440 for D & A Okill of Siddington, a 9 month old Limousin sold to £1280 for G R Spink of Grindon, a pair of 10 month old Flekvieh sold to £1010 for Gilmans Ltd of Thorpe who also had a 10 month old Aberdeen Angus to £1000.

Steers
230 Steers were on offer with the top price being £2360 for an 18-month-old Limousin for F E Whittaker & Sons of Bosley.

A British Blue at 26 months old sold to £2300 for IE, M & A Wilson of Hollington with another at 26 months of age achieving £2220 from the same vendor and a 22-month-old British Blue achieving £2240 from F H White of Shottle. A single British Blue at 18 months old achieved £2110 for A Kidd of Congleton.

Hereford steers at 29 months old sold to £2290 for Holmes Bros of Loscoe with a pair at 31 months of age selling to £2120 for Roy Sant of Endon and a bunch of Hereford at 19 months old achieving £1880 for IE, M & A Wilson of Hollington.

A bunch of four Aberdeen Angus at 28 months old sold to £2250 for P W Massey of Macclesfield with another at 24 months old achieving £2080 for P J Taylor of Macclesfield.

A 21-month-old Simmental sold to £1870 for A & AW Sadler of Great Wyrley and a 21-month-old Blonde sold to £1870 for D & L Haynes of Stone.

Younger cattle sold to £1890 for a 14-month-old Charolais from E Cookson & Partners of Lymm and a 14-month-old British Blue achieved £1700 from JJ & WE Bower of Hyde who also had another British Blue at 12 months old selling to £1670.

The overall average for steers was £1301.41.

Heifers
266 Heifers were on offer with a top price of £2210 being achieved for a Charolais at 25 months of age for F J Gould & Son of Longnor.

A Hereford at 31 months old sold to £2150 for Roy Sant of Endon with another bunch of three at 31 months of age achieving £1940 for the same vendor.

A 27-month-old British Blue sold to £2090 for DRK Agriculture of Macclesfield with another at 27 months old selling to £2060 for Holmes Bros of Loscoe and a bunch of four at 23 months old achieving £2000 for P Gibson of Stoke on Trent.

A Limousin at 23 months old sold to £2050 for Holmes Bros of Loscoe and Aberdeen Angus at 19 months old sold to £2040 for A Kidd of Congleton.

A pair of Saler heifers at 27 months old sold to £1950 for Holmes Bros of Loscoe.

Younger cattle sold to £1600 for a pair of Charolais at 14 months old from E Cookson & Partners of Lymm with a bunch of six British Blue at 15 months also selling for £1600 for D Machin of Rudyard.

The overall average for heifers was a very pleasing £1289.21
