Store Cattle Sale Report 7th June

There was a total of 401 Store and Breeding Cattle available on Saturday seeing some excellent trade throughout.

Breeding Section
More breeding cattle on offer this week with a top price of £2180 for an Aberdeen Angus cow with an Aberdeen Angus Heifer calf at foot from ACA & TJ Ede of Stramshall, who also had another Aberdeen Angus cow and Heifer calf selling to £2160 with other similar outfits achieving £2060 and £1980.

J & D Maltby of Bakewell sold a Hereford Heifer, with a 2-month-old Hereford male calf to £2180. Two Aberdeen Angus heifers with male calves at foot sold to £2160 and £2080 for CD, JI & NM Gabbott of Rainow.

A Simmental suckler cow from J & B Proudlove of Congleton sold to £1500 with two more Simmental suckler cows to £1440 and £1360 from the same vendor.

A Hereford suckler cow sold to £1440 from Stuart Frith of Thorpe who also had a Limousin suckler cow to £1320.

Stock Bulls
A Hereford stock bull at 22 months of age sold to £3500 for J E Reynolds & Co of Loughborough.

Young Bulls
A 13-month-old Charolais bull sold to £1480 for J A Clowes & Sons of Cubley with two Hereford bulls at 12 months of age achieving £960 for Hambleton Bros of Calton and a bunch of three Longhorn bulls at 11 months of age sold to £910 for P Witham of Marston.

Steers
There were 149 steers on offer with the top price of the day being £2500 paid for a 26-month-old Limousin from CJ Hidderley of Ipstones, closely followed by a pair of 27-month-old Limousin selling to £2490 from the same vendor. A 23-month-old Limousin from John Kirkham of Hartington sold to £1840.

A 17-month-old Charolais sold well to achieve £2310 for I Hunter & Son of Quarnford with an 18-month-old Charolais from J A Clowes & Sons of Cubley.

British Blue steers topped at £2210 at 24-month-old for RG & AS Williamson of Wetley Rocks, Foker Grange Farm sold a pair of British Blue steers at 19 months old to £1920 and a bunch of three 19- to 21-month-old British Blue steers sold to £1910 each for JG Curtis & Son of Basford.

Aberdeen Angus at 21 months of age sold for £2030 for WG Latham of Weston on Trent with another at 26 months old selling to £1900 for Holmes Bros of Loscoe and a 21-month-old Aberdeen Angus selling to £1830 for RG & AS Williamson of Wetley Rocks.

A 21-month-old Blonde sold to £1820 for RG & AS Williamson of Wetley Rocks who also had a 20-month-old Holstein to £1700.

A 28-month-old Hereford steer from Holmes Bros of Loscoe sold to £1770 with a 22-month-old Hereford achieving £1700 from The Red Lion Inn at Stone.

Younger cattle sold to £1600 for a 13-month-old Charolais from I Hunter & Son of Quarnford who also had another Charolais at 11 months old selling to £1540. A 14-month-old British Blue steer sold to £1520 from Alan Hayes & Family of Alstonefield who also had an 11-month-old Limousin to £1420.

A bunch of four 13-month-old Limousin sold to £1420 for A J Peach of Warslow with a bunch of four 9-month-old Limousin achieving £1220 for Stuart Frith of Thorpe.

The overall average for steers was £1272.

Heifers
There were 182 heifers on offer with Limousin being the trade of the day!

A top price of £2260 was achieved for a 24-month-old Limousin from J Jervis Partnership of Cheadle (twice) with three more from the same vendor at £2090. Holmes Bros of Loscoe had a 26-month-old Limousin to £2120 and a 33-month-old Limousin was sold to £2110 for RG & AS Williamson of Wetley Rocks.

A bunch of three Simmental heifers at 24 months old sold to £2080 for RG & AS Williamson of Wetley Rocks.

A pair of British Blue heifers at 28 months old sold to £2050 for Holmes Bros of Loscoe who also had another at 27 months old selling to £1960 with a single 25-month-old British Blue heifer selling to £2000 for Foker Grange Farm, Leek. RG & AS Williamson had a 20-month-old British Blue to £1900.

An Aberdeen Angus heifer at 26 months old sold to £1990 for Holmes Bros of Loscoe with another at 22 months of age sold for Foker Grange Farm of Leek.

A 21-month-old Charolais achieved £1850 for RG & AS Williamson of Wetley Rocks.

Younger cattle sold to £1360 for a 12-month-old Limousin from A J Peach of Warslow who also had another at 12 months of age selling to £1170 with a bunch of four Limousin at 11 months of age selling to £1180 for Alan Hayes & Family of Alstonefield.

The overall average for heifers was £1254.
