A Total entry of 790 Store and Breeding Cattle with a good company of buyers in attendance and a strong trade in all sections.
Breeding Section
Top price Cow with Calf at foot was £1400 achieved for an Aberdeen Angus Cow with an Aberdeen Angus Calf at foot for Mr Buffey of Hazelgrove with a part herd dispersal from AR Capewell of Checkley and an Aberdeen Angus Cow with an Aberdeen Angus Bull Calf at foot for £1320 and another outfit with a Heifer Calf at foot at £1170.
Two Hereford Cows for Mr McCreath of Dunston, both with Bull Calves at foot, sold up to £1335 and another outfit at £1300.
An entry of four breeding Heifers from N Brown of Marston Montgomery were well sold at £1230.
Bulls
Stock Bulls topped at £1910 achieved for a 42-month-old Pedigree Aberdeen Angus Bull from AR Capewell of Checkley with a Pedigree Charolais Bull from Messrs Grindey & Hill of Onecote at £1400.
In the Young Bull section, an 11-month-old, well-shaped Limousin Bull from A Sayer of Stone was bid for keenly and achieved £1390 with a 17 month old Aberdeen Angus Bull from AR Capewell at £920, a pair
of 6 month old Limousin from A M Sayer sold at £745.
There were several smaller young bulls on offer with the average being £682 overall.
Steers
There were 301 Steers on offer which saw a top price of £1645 for a 25-month-old Blonde Steer from C Hidderley of Ipstones with a 30-month-old Limousin from D & A Stonier of Congleton at £1635, another
from the same vendor at 30 months of age at £1505 and a third at £1485.
Other Limousins at 23 months of age sold up to £1415 and a 27-month-old Limousin at £1405 from the Palfreyman Family of Bakewell.
Simmental Steers from J Hudson of Ipstones at 35 months of age achieved up to £1620 with another pair of 27-month-old Simmentals from Beechcliffe Farm Partners at £1390.
Charolais Steers from R Rowlinson & Sons of Ramshorn, at 18 months of age, sold up to £1590 with a
pair from S Kidd of Quarnford, at 18 months of age, selling well at £1590 and a single from R Worthington at 22 months of age selling at £1500.
A pair of 17-month-old Charolais, from J Barber of Quarnford, achieved £1400.
Hereford Steers from B Clarkson of North Rode at 24 months old were well sold up to £1490 with Shorthorn Steers at 29 months of age up to £1405 for Messrs Palfreyman and another 24-month-old
Hereford Steer from B Clarkson at £1390.

There were several other cattle selling in excess of £1300 with British Blue Steers topping at £1450 for a 16-month-old beast from DR Flower of Alstonefield and a 20-month-old British Blue Steer from GR Simcock & Family of Endon at £1405.
Younger cattle achieved up to £845 for a 9-month-old Simmental from W Smith of Marchington with a bunch of four 9-month-old Aberdeen Angus Steers from D Green & Family of Whiston at £785 and a single 8 month old Charolais from S Kidd Farmers of Longnor at £745.
Overall average for Steers was £1043.74
Heifers
There were 245 Heifers on offer which saw a top price of £1470 for a 24-month-old Shorthorn Heifer from BG Clarkson of North Rode, a 17 month old Limousin from Messrs Lovatt of Rushton Spencer at £1465, a 33 month old Limousin from D & A Stonier of Congleton sold for £1450 and a pair of 18 month old Limousins from PH Nixon of Congleton at £1445.
Blonde Heifers at 17 months of age sold up to £1395 with Charolais Heifers at 18 months of age from Messrs Grindey & Hill of Onecote at £1335 and another 22-month-old Charolais Heifer from P Heath of Bradnop at £1235.
Simmental Heifers from R Rowlinson & Sons of Ramshorn, at 19 months of age, sold up to £1285.
British Blue Heifers from Pilkington Farmers of Hartington, at 24 months of age, sold up to £1210 with Hereford Heifers from R Turner of Rownall, at 28 months of age, up to £1150 and an Aberdeen Angus at 29 months of age from the same vendor at £1100.
Younger cattle sold up to £1045 for an 11-month-old Limousin for A Sayer of Stone with a 9 month old Limousin from the same farmer at £840.
A bunch of four Aberdeen Angus Heifers at 10 months of age from D Green & Family of Whiston sold for £710 with the overall average being £871.39.
