There was an excellent entry of 423 Breeding Sheep for our first sale of the season which attracted a superb trade throughout.
Breeding Rams;
A lovely selection forward, selling up to £410 for a Pure Bred Beltex Shearling ram from Nicola Beardsley, Muggington, who also sold a Pure Bred Badger Face Ram for £360.
Other Rams sold up to £380 for a Texel x Charolais Ram Lamb from Stuart Talbot, Gratwich, who sold another Texel x Charolais Ram Lamb for £340 & a Charolais Ram Lamb for £320.
Blue Texel Ram Lambs sold up to £190 & £140 twice for M Richmond, Ashbourne.
Shearlings & Ewes;
A superb trade, with a top price of £395 paid for 3 Pure Bred Badger Face Texel Shearling ewes from Nicola Beardsley who also sold 4 Birth Notified Blue Texel Shearling Ewes at £195. Pedigree Texel Shearling ewes sold up to £235, £230, £225 and £215, from J Mifflin, Halmer End and Zwartble Shearlings to £130 and ewes to £135.
A dispersal of Texel x ewes being full mouth sold at £234, £210, £190 and £185 from A White of Repton.
Pure Texel shearlings from David & Joe Lovatt realised £230 and £210. A run of Texel x shearlings from E Morten & Sons, Barmoor Clough sold up to £176, £172 twice & £170, with Texel Mule shearlings at £170 & £150 for F D Hobson, Over Alderley.
Suffolk Shearlings topped at £164, £160 & £162 for T J Burke of Altrincham
Ewes with Lambs at Foot;
Plenty of buyers for these selling on a brilliant trade topping at £198 & £192 for Suffolk Shearlings with Singles at foot from Ian Long, Bradnop. Two Texel x Ewes with doubles made £185 for M Richmond, Ashbourne and £168 for 2 Mule Shearling with singles from E M Wolfenden, Longford. Mixed Aged hill bred ewes with singles & twins at foot sold up to £146 for Gritstone x, Cheviot x to £132 and horned ewes to £132.
