100% clearance for the last sale of 2025 with over 1150 head of sheep sold, seeing lambs topping at 430p/kg and ewes to £265/head

Barrens sold to 275p/kg for a Holstein cow and clean cattle sold to 338p/kg for Friesian bulls

Pigs sold to 240p/kg or £239/head with more required to meet demand

Calves topped at £700 (x3) for British Blue bulls and heifers sold to £575 for a smart Limousin

A small entry for the post-Christmas sale seeing a top price of 275p/kg for a Holstein cow weighing 680kg to produce a top price of £1870/head for F Yates & Son of Oldham.

Simmental cows sold to 268p to gross £1862.60/head for JM Robinson of Swythamley.

The top headage price of the day was £2362.80 for a 895kg Simmental from D & A Stonier of Congleton.

The overall average was a very pleasing 256.14/kg or £1901.85/head

CLEAN
A small entry of Friesian bulls sold to a top of 338p/kg to achieve a top headage price of £2011.10 for J E Archer & Sons of Hilton.

Overall average was 332.86/kg with an average headage price of £1876.48.

Not enough pigs to meet demand at the post-Christmas sale with buyers looking to restock fridges. Top price 240p or £239.00. Gilts 220-240p boars 170-200p.

Porkers sold to 170p for young Mr Taylor of Packmoor.

Cutters sold to 240p for GR Weston, Longsdon. B Minshull to 222p, 191p. J&B Fentem to 190p, 189p for boars. Gloucester’s, from the late John Lockett sold to 182p.

Bacon pigs sold to 230p twice for Massie farms who had others to 237p x2, 236p x2, 235p x4, 234p. J&B Fentem to 230p, 228p, 224p. C Hine to 229p.

Heavy boars to 162p for C Hine.

A good entry for the time of year saw a very pleasing trade, albeit back from the pre-Christmas flyer!

Best lambs still very well bid for, topping at 430p/kg (twice) and other pens at 400p/kg and better. Best shaped lambs generally 350p – 380p/kg.

Big lambs well bid for to top at £200.08 and plenty £180 +.

Overall average at 331p/kg and 335p/kg SQQ which included a few runs of Mules and under finished sorts.

More required weekly so satisfy regular orders.
