100% clearance throughout the market today with just short of 1,000 sheep on offer with lambs selling to 355p/kg, topping at £188.50/head and ewes to £268.

Less calves on offer but trade is booming with British Blue bulls to £760 and a Limousin topping the heifers at £675.

Seeing good numbers in the Pigs selling to 231p/kg topping at £228.69/head.

Barrens to 271p/kg for a Holstein and clean to 318p/kg for a Friesian steer.

Dairies to £2860 for a third calver.

Holstein topped the Barren shed today weighing 615kg she sold to 271p/kg for W E Turnock & Sons of Oncote with the same vendor having a second Holstein weighing 535kg to 250p/kg.

A Montbeliarde cow weighing 630kg sold to 261p/kg for D & G Tudor of Kingsley Moor.

Top headage price of the day was £1996.40 for the Holstein for LTL Partners, Leigh.

A 940kg Hereford bull sold to 250p/kg to gross £2350 for E T Simpson of Winkhill.

The overall average was 218.98p.

CLEAN
A Friesian steer sold to 318p/kg to gross £1669.50 for D & E A Jeffery of Roston who also had a Simmental steer to 295p/kg to gross £1784.75.

A Hereford steer sold to 276p/kg to gross £1269.60 for K & A Smith, Ashbourne.

Overall average for clean cattle was 274.26/kg.

A fantastic cow, fresh with her third, from the Mills Family of Ambergate topped at £2860. They also had a second calver at £2550 and another second calver at £2320.

Big entries for next week with towards 40 fresh milkers in the Pedigree sale and a part herd dispersal of 50 milkers all calved in the last eight weeks from the Mycock Family of Over Haddon.

A good entry saw a solid demand with new orders in operation.

The best lambs to 355p/kg and plenty at 340p – 350p, particularly for handy weight sorts. Best big lambs to £188.50.

Commercial lambs generally 300p – 320p depending on breed, weight and finish. A few runs of Mules selling on a solid trade but impacting the average.

Overall average at 314p/kg or £141/head.

Seven best topped £700 with a strong British Blue (10 wks) at the top at £760 with Daz Tudor’s Charolais (26 days) at £730 and Phillip Holdcroft’s Simmental (21 days) also £730. Medium bulls £350 – £550 depending on size and potential with a few smaller bulls under £330.
