What a Show! The Christmas Pedigree Show and Sale surpassed all expectations on Tuesday at Leek and as always proved to be a tremendous day for all those in attendance.

An absolute credit to our vendors who produced some fantastic animals for the event and were justly rewarded with an outstanding trade.

Judge, Nigel Moss of Meerbrook, with quiet expertise and careful consideration made an excellent job of picking his top three out in each class awarding first in the cow class and reserve champion to regular vendors Messrs Easom of Oakerthorpe. Broomhouse Outback Echo 6533 by ABS Outback had given 9613kg in her third lactation. Sold fresh with her fourth she was eventually clinched by the Evans family of Oswestry at £3000 who went onto make some other choice purchases.

However, it was a heifer by Claynook Country from the Braemarhouse Herd of Messrs Mellor of Earl Sterndale that took the honours in the heifer class and was eventually awarded supreme champion. Sold giving 35kg she was purchased by the judge Nigel Moss at £3000.

Trade was simply on fire with numerous others edging towards the £3000 mark. A commercial heifer by Pine-Tree-I Pursuit from Messrs Needham of Heaton, that took first in the commercial class, reached £2850 to the Bailey family of Brown Edge.

An exceptional cow from the Nadins of Earl Sterndale made £2840. Sterndale Sidekick Rachel boasted 12 generations VG/EX and caught the eye of the Johnsons of Hilderstone who clinched her for £2840.

In all 40 passed the £2000 mark with 10 making it past £2500.

Thanks to all who support Leek Auctions throughout the year, it is very much appreciated.

Wishing all our customers a happy and safe Christmas and prosperous new year.
