More Barrens on offer this week seeing some spirited bidding around the ring.
The highlight of the day was a Simmental bull weighing 1055kg and selling to a top of 283p/kg to achieve a very pleasing top headage price of £2985.65 for JM Robinson of Swythamley.

Topping the barren cow trade was an Aberdeen Angus which achieved 275p/kg, weighing 630kg to a headage price of £1732.50 for PJ Simpson of Winkhill who also sold another Aberdeen Angus weighing 730kg to 265p/kg to gross £1934.50.

CLEAN CATTLE
A 630kg Hereford steer sold to 300p/kg to gross £1890 for TJ Partington of Burton on Trent and a 585kg Aberdeen Angus heifer sold to 341p/kg to achieve £1994.85 gross for PJ Simpson of Winkhill who also had another Aberdeen Angus heifer, weighing 530kg, achieve 337p/kg to gross £1786.
Overall average 301.97p/kg.

100 pigs sold today and an absolute flying trade for all types. On the whole a good show of pigs, topping at 230p or £222/head for fat pigs, gilts 210p+ and boars 170p+. Sows to 81p or £262.
Porkers sold well to 218p for C Blackshaw who had others to 215p. J&B Fentem to 212p. R Stubbs to 180p.
Cutters sold to 219p for J&B Fentem who had others to 214p, 209p, 205p. R Stubbs 175p.
Bacon pigs sold to 230p or £222/head for B Minshull. Massie Farms 225p, 221px2, 220px3., 217p, 215p x3. C Hine 219p. J&B Fentem to 213p, 210px2. Boars to 180p for C Hine.

A good post pedigree week entry with some quality cattle forward and trade good.
The Easom family at Broomhouse sent four strong cows to a top of £2800 with his second at £2660.

In the heifers, Andrew Hadfield at Chamber Farm had a really smart Friesian heifer to top at £2360, sold giving 30kg.
The best four heifers averaged a credible £2245 with the best four milky cows levelling at £2340.
In-calf cows saw spirited bidding with Mr Webster at Lemmington receiving £1460 for his 7½ year old Friesian in-calf cow which was in-calf to a Simmental bull.
Older milky cows in demand with plenty £1500 – £1890 per head.
A feature of the sale was a superb Friesian heifer calf 34 days old, from the Wilson family of Blithbury, which blasted away to £455.
