Another firm trade with vendors well pleased with the prices achieved.
Top price was 214p/kg for an 835kg Limousin cow from AP Wain of Forsbrook to gross £1786.90.
A 540kg Friesian heifer for AM & JE Kirby achieved 229p/kg.
A Shorthorn, from Rushton Spencer, at 670kg sold for 175p/kg and a 710kg Holstein for WE Turnock & Sons of Onecote sold to 172p/kg. A 765kg Brown Swiss from J, C & D Hudson of Wetton sold to 166p/kg.
A 31-month-old Holstein steer, from Roy Shore of Biddulph, weighing 715kg was weel sold at 196p/kg to gross at £1401.40 and a 660kg Holstein steer from the same vendor sold for 190p/kg.

A commercial heifer at 435kg sold for 177p/kg to gross £769.95.

A bumper entry of pigs today with 146 pigs sold, best pigs still just above 200p. Top price 208p for fats and 110p for sows. On the whole, trade down 10-20p due to the number forward.
Porkers topped 185p for PJ Saunders, Lichfield, The Harper family to 180, 178,175 and 170p.
Cutters sold to 195p for PJ Saunders who had others to 193p, 188p, 185p, 183p. N Burgin to 170p.
Bacon Pigs sold for 209p for PF+PD Parsons, who had others for 204p. Massie Farms to 200p x4. S Bailey to 200p.
Heavies sold to 149p for a 170kg clean gilt from C wardle.
Sows saw a solid trade, selling to 110p for J&B Fentem, R Watson, Chester sold to 98p, and 82p. S Bailey to 90p and C Hine to 66p.

COMMERCIALS TOP AT £2860
HERD TO £2220
Trade for the commercial entry was strong on Tuesday topping at £2860 for a very stylish white heifer from Michael and Caroline Wainwright of Buxton.
Cross bred cows from Mick and Kay Hulse were keenly sought after with a second calver reaching £2440, a fourth calver at £2420 and a heifer to £2340. The entire commercial entry averaged an excellent £2006.
The herd dispersal on behalf of the Bates family topped at £2220 for a fresh heifer with a milking heifer due in April close behind at £2120

Big lambs in high demand, topping at £160.14/head.
Overall average at 272p/kg for a mixed sample.
