873 sheep sold on a strong trade with hoggs topping at 466p/kg and ewes to £320

Barrens topped at 262p/kg or £2227/head with clean cattle to 378p/kg or £2164.80/head

Calves on a flier once again with British Blue bulls to £890 and heifers to £710

Barrens remain a firm trade with an 850kg Friesian cow selling to 262p/kg to gross £2227, being the top headage price of the day, for RG & AS Williamson of Wetley Rocks who had a second Friesian at 635kg achieving 256p/kg to gross £1625.60.

A Hereford cow weighing 700kg sold to 259p/kg to gross £1813 for S J Booth of Lymm.

An Aberdeen Angus cow weighing 590kg sold to 256p/kg to gross £1510.40 for PB Wain of Gawsworth who had a second at 635kg selling to 253p/kg to gross £1606.55.

The overall average was a pleasing 231.23/kg or £1482.76/head.

CLEAN
A 450kg Limousin heifer topped the clean cattle at 378p/kg for G Mitchell & EP Murray of Knutsford who also had a pair of Limousin heifers to 370p/kg, grossing £1868.50 and £1794.50 respectively with an Aberdeen Angus heifer at 352p/kg to gross £2164.80 for the same vendor.

The overall average was 366.36p/kg or £1882.20/head.

Milkers to £2750

A nice entry of milkers on Tuesday saw a continuation of the two-tier trade with the best selling well and lesser quality harder to place.

Topping the day was a very milky second calver from the Broomhouse herd of Messrs Easom, giving 46kg she was clinched by a new purchaser who also went on to take a second from the same home at £2500.

A nice heifer from the Ellis family of Ashover reached £2200.

A reasonable entry saw a solid trade with only the very big or very lean hard to sell.

Best shaped lambs selling on a very strong trade as seen for the last four weeks to a top of 466p/kg and numerous pens at 420p/kg and better.

Top ten pens average 434.9p/kg from six different vendors!! More required each week!!

Overall average a new high of £165/head and SQQ of 372p/kg. Generally, a heavier entry and overall average at 355p/kg.

We thought that they have been dear before but today they took another major leap forward in price with calves miles more money than the inflated prices that we have come to expect.

I could tell you a story on every single calf today and how dear they were. The British Blue bulls averaged £135 more than last week with seven over £700 and two over £800. Mark Hodgkinson had £890 and Peter Gilman £810. Just three British Blue bulls under £600.

PRODUCE
A huge crowd gathered today for the sale of some well-made 2025 crop, 4 string, 8ft square bales of hay from Derbyshire, it went on to sell for £81.50 per bale with more expected next week.
