100% clearance in Leek over all sections, seeing pigs on a flying trade with a top price of 235p for baconers.

More calves about this week with 179 head on offer, British Blue bull up to £455 and heifers up to £315, also a British Blue.

Excellent trade in the dairies, seeing a heifer top the day at £2900.

Fast trade in the Lambs, selling up to 361p/kg for the best sorts.

Some well meated cows were on offer which met with good competition, seeing a top price of 194p/kg for a 520kg Friesian from P N Holdcroft of Brown Edge.
184p/kg was paid for a 790kg Holstein from W E Turnock & Sons, to gross £1453.60 and 179p/kg was paid for a 960kg Friesian from RG & AS Williamson to gross £1718.40.

Two clean Dexter heifers achieved up to 147p/kg for a 255kg beast to gross £374.85/head for D Littleton of Norton Green.

More pigs about this week, trade an absolute flyer for all types, top price 235p or £248.24/head for fat pigs and 150p for sows.

Porkers sold to 227p for J&B Fentem and 180p for MR Banham.

Cutters from J&B Fentem sold to 229p, 225p x2. A Shinton sold for 225p. B Minshull sold to 222p, S Bailey 207p and 204p for boars.

Ben Vernon topped the bacon pigs selling to 235p. JG Belfield to 234p, 228p, 226p, 225p. Massie Farms to 234p, 232p, 229p, 228p. PF+PD Parsons to 231p. C Hine to 234p. B Minshull to 224p x2. A Shinton to 218p and Rosie Watson to 218p.

Heavies had more spark with Christmas fast approaching, top price 232p for 107kg pigs from B Minshull. MR Banham to 209p. C Hine to 184p.

Sows were an absolute flyer; two sows from F Sharpley, Holmes Chapel sold to 150p or £441 for a 294kg sow who had another to 144p or £476 for a 331kg sow.

Well, what a trade for all classes and quality!
Topping the day was a Rubi Taz heifer from Michael Wainwright of Buxton giving 26kg, after spirited bidding, she was eventually clinched by Angela Bailey of Brown Edge at £2900.
A 28kg heifer, from Peter Witham of Marston Montgomery reached £1980.
In-calf heifers topped at £1910 from Trevor and Pat Swinson.

Overall average at 293p/kg or £132.50/head.

Best ewes a pleasure to sell, top price £244 for a pen of Texels from JWA Jefferey, Sudbury who had others to £240. P Kirkham and IC Bourne had Texels to £242. S Crawforth, Meerbrook sold to £210 and DE Hodgson, Tunstead to £200. Brad Hunter to £180.
