Store Lambs

There were 5691 Store Lambs on offer, meeting a much sharper trade and seeing a top price of £115.50 for Texel Lambs from I Currington of Buxton with another pen from the same farmer at £114, £108 from Brooklyn Farm Products of Thorncliffe, and £107 from K Turnock of Wincle. Several other pens of Texel Lambs sold in excess of £95.

Beltex Lambs from D & Z Partners of Warslow sold up to £101.50.and John Kirkham of Hartington sold Beltex Lambs at £97 with another pen from George Whitehouse of Ashbourne at £97 also.

Suffolk Lambs from JH Belfield of Macclesfield Forest were well sold up to £115 with a pen from P & M Hayward & Son of Chapel en le Frith at £113 and £98 from Phillip Hooley of Wildboarclough.

Oxford Lambs from R & M Phillips & Sons of Buxton topped at £96 with a second pen at £94 from the same vendor and Cheviot Lambs selling particularly well at £97.50 from Ashes Farm Services of Bamford and £95 from the same vendor.

Continental mixed Lambs from JL Mellor & Partners of Macclesfield topped at £115 with Dorset Lambs up to £84.50 from A J Muir of Buxton, Gritstone Lambs sold up to £92 for A Wilson of Ipstones and Lleyn, from Clive Grindey of Adlington, up to £89.50.

Charolais Lambs from J T Owen of Wolverhampton sold up to £93.50 with a second pen at £92.50.

Overall average achieved was £87.05 which did include a high proportion of small long term Lambs which were in particularly strong demand.


Ewe Lambs

There were 348 Ewe Lambs on offer with a top price of £240 for an excellent quality Texel Ewe Lamb from S Davis of Ashbourne with other Texel Ewe Lambs up to £118 from Alan Buxton of Bollington.

Mule Ewe Lambs from Geoff Tunnicliffe & Family of Quarnford topped at £122 with others at £116 and £112.



There were 295 Shearlings on offer seeing strong Mule Shearlings from Helen White of Ashbourne up to £232 with another pen at £205 and a third pen from A Hayes of Cromford at £200.

The average for Mule Shearlings was an excellent £191.85.

Texel Shearlings from A Hayes of Cromford sold up to £190 with others from E Morten & Sons from Barmoor Clough at £185 (twice) to average £162.71.

Lleyn Shearlings from Clive Grindey of Adlington sold up to £175 with Cheviot Shearlings from Mick Wardman of Leek up to £150.


Breeding Ewes

There were 229 Breeding Ewes, including a high proportion of grazing sorts.

Mule, correct both way Ewes, from W Wright of Ashbourne sold up to £175 with Zwartble correct Ewes from PJ Davenport of Calton at £176.


Breeding Rams

An entry of Breeding Rams saw a top price of £410 for a 2 shear Texel Ram from Russell Jones of Whaley Bridge and a 2 shear Texel Ram for Messrs Lowe of Hulme End sold at £350, Texel yearling Rams sold up to £320 (twice) and £300.
