Store Cattle Sale Report 10th July

There was a total entry of 300 store and breeding cattle on offer with trade particularly keen for all sorts.
Breeding Section
Cows and calves were particularly well sold with an entry from J & A Worthington of Nether Alderley selling up to £1680 for a Simmental cow with a Limousin heifer calf at foot with £1680 being paid for a British Blue cow with a Limousin male calf at foot and £1630 for a Simmental cow with a Limousin male calf at foot. Another outfit from the same vendor sold for £1580 with a fifth outfit at £1400.
With the same vendors selling some in calf British Blue and Simmental heifers PD’d 4 to 5 months in calf to the Limousin for up to £1180 and £1140.
An In calf British Blue from James Burke Ltd of Timperley, was well sold at £1200 with a pedigree Angus cow with an Angus heifer calf at foot from Colin Agar of Bradnop at £1320.
A 13 month old Charolais pedigree bull from Geoff Goodwin of Wetley Rocks created a lot of interest and was well sold at £1980.
Young Bulls
Top price was £1300 paid for a 15 month old pedigree Charolais bull from Mr Carrington and a 15 month old Hereford bull again from Mr Carrington exchanged hands for £970 with a bunch of 3, 11 month old Limousins from F Potter & Sons of Yeaveley at £860 and younger 7 month old Angus’s from J B Beech of Sandbach at £510.
Steers
There were 146 steers on offer with all types and sizes being very keenly sought after with new buyers in attendance seeing a top price of £1495 for a pair of 27 month old Limousins from D J Boulton & Sons of Stafford with a 25 month old Limousin from the same vendor at £1485 and another pair of 26 month old Limousins at £1455.
Other similar age cattle from the same vendor sold for £1435 and £1395.
A Blonde 29 month old steer from Keith Challinor of Tean, was well sold at £1375 with a pair of 24 month old British Blues from Beechcliffe Farm Partners of Trentham at £1350 and a pair of 28 month old British Blue steers from John Burgess and Family of Betley at £1300 and a 13 month old British Blue steer from the White Family of Moscar, Sheffield at £1125.
A single 29 month old Angus from John Burgess and Family sold for £1335 with Simmentals from the same vendor at 29 months of age up to £1280 and a Hereford from the same farmers at 27 months of age at £1230.
A 25 month old Shorthorn steer from GG Hall & Sons of Croxton was particularly well sold at £1180 with a pair of Montbeliarde steers from S A Edge of West Hallam at £1095 and a 25 month old Bazadaise from the same farmer at £1065.
Younger cattle sold up to £1045 for a bunch of 3, Shorthorns at 11 months of age from J & R Potts of Macclesfield with a single 12 month old Angus from AP Buckle of Boundary at £1015 and a bunch of 3, 14 month old Charolais being particularly well sold at £1000 from C & EJ Whilock of Werrington.
Overall average achieved for steers was £903.18.
Heifers
There were 126 heifers on offer a top price being £1380 for a single 25 month old Limousin from D J Boulton & Son with other Limousins from the same vendor of similar age at £1240, £1215 and £1205.
British Blue heifers from John Burgess & Family at 29 months of age sold up to £1295 with another at £1155 and a bunch of 3, 22 month old British Blue heifers from Richard Heatley at £1115 and a bunch of 3 from John & Gary Fryer at £1135 at 20 months of age.
A Charolais heifer at 20 months of age from C & EJ Whilock of Werrington sold for £1090 with a bunch of 3, 22 month old Herefords from A J Peach of Warslow at £1000.
Younger cattle sold up to £930 for a 14 month old British Blue heifer from James Burke Ltd of Timperley with a bunch of 5, 15 month old Charolais from C & EJ Whilock at £900. An 8 month old Limousin from J A Nicholls of Wetley Rocks at £790 to produce an average overall at £835.82.
