Breeding Section
There were more breeding cattle on offer today with some excellent prices being achieved. Top price of the day was a 60-month-old Limousin Suckler cow which sold for a tremendous £2730 from High Ash Estate, Droylsden who also had a Limousin breeding heifer, at 25 months old, which sold to £2340. A Limousin suckler cow, from EJ & DC Kidd of Quarnford, sold to £2090.
A Friesian cow at 34 months of age with a with a 2-month-old Limousin heifer calf at foot sold to £2080 for Hopewall Farm, Macclesfield with a 48-month-old Aberdeen Angus cow with an Aberdeen Angus calf at foot, for Trevor Ede of Stramshall, selling to £2080.
Stock Bulls
A Blue Albion Stock Bull at 21 months of age sold to £1460 for GA Clews of Biddulph Moor.
Young Bulls
A bunch of three 12-month-old Limousin bulls, from JL Mellor & Partners of Sutton, sold for a remarkable £1580 with a bunch of four 10-month-old Limousin selling to £1500 for IF & RW Smith of Ilam. A 14-month-old British Blue bull from JW & HL Nash of Burton sold up to £1480.
Steers
There were 229 steers on offer with a bunch of three 24-month-old Limousin steers from P J Stephens of Mottram St Andrew selling to £2530, the same vendor had a 25-month-old Limousin steer to £2270. A bunch of four 21-month-old Limousin steers sold to £2040 for Linda Wright of Hartington.
A 30 month old Aberdeen Angus from P W Massey of Chelford achieved £2400, who also had a pair at 30 months of age selling to £2000, a bunch of seven Aberdeen Angus, at 25 months of age, sold for £2370 for F H White of Shottle, A G Mellor of Sutton sold a 25 month old Aberdeen Angus to £2200 and a 16 month old Aberdeen Angus from B & BM Rowlinson of Bottomhouse sold for £2050.
A Shorthorn steer from G G Hall & Son of Croxden, at 23 months of age, sold to £2300 with another from the same vendor at 22 months of age selling to ££2240. A 25-month-old Shorthorn from R & J Shore of Biddulph sold to £2180 with two 23-month-old Shorthorn selling to £1910 from P & C Palfreyman of Monyash.
A 23-month-old British Blue steer from F H White of Shottle sold to £2220 with a 23-month-old British Blue from Linda Wright of Hartington selling to £1930.
J Gilman & Partners of Bosley sold a Simmental steer, at 21 months of age to £2190 and a 20-month-old Simmental from the same vendor achieved £1890.
A 25-month-old Hereford steer from P & C Palfreyman of Monyash sold to £2190 with a bunch of four Hereford steers at 24 months of age sold to £2000 for J F Kirkham of Hartington.
Younger cattle sold to £1860 for a Limousin steer at 13 months of age for J J Watson of Marple, an 11-month-old Limousin from H G Nutter of Grindon sold to £1750, a 13-month-old Limousin sold to £1700 and a pair of 12-month-old Shorthorn sold to £1700 for C M Rowlinson Ltd of Ramshorn.
Overall average for steers was a pleasing £1406.88
Heifers
There were 213 heifers on offer with a top price of £2480 for a pair of Charolais heifers at 25 months old for S Ollerenshaw of Bradwell who also had a 22-month-old Simmental selling to £2470.
An Aberdeen Angus heifer from A G Mellor of Sutton sold to £2420 at 24 months of age who also sold a bunch of three Aberdeen Angus to £2100 at 23 months of age.
A 23-month-old Limousin from F & J Barlow of Froghall sold to £2390 with F H White of Shottle selling three Limousin heifers for £2370 at 22 and 25 months of age. F H White also sold a pair of British Blue heifers to £2100 and £2080 at 24 and 25 months of age respectively and a bunch of four Aberdeen Angus heifers at 25 months of age achieved £2070 for the same vendor who also sold a pair of Hereford heifers to £1980. A Pair of British Blue heifers at 18 months of age sold to £1970 for D Machin of Rudyard.
A pair of Shorthorn heifers from R & J Shore of Biddulph achieved £1980.
Younger cattle sold to £1850 for a 12-month-old Limousin for C M Rowlinson Ltd of Ramshorn who also had a 15-month-old Limousin to £1820 and a 12-month-old British Blue to £1760.
Overall average for heifers was £1331.67.
