There was 485 Store and Breeding cattle on offer with a good strong trade for all types of cattle.
Breeding Section
There was a shortage of cows with calves at foot with a Limousin x cow with a Hereford bull calf at foot from Mr Parker of Upper Hulme exchanging hands for £1040. A Shorthorn cow with a Hereford bull calf at foot from Keith Parker of Rugeley at £1160 and In calf cows up to £860 for a Hereford from J & A Worthington of Macclesfield PD’d in calf to the Limousin.
Young Bulls
There were 30 young bulls on offer with a top price being £1020 for stock from F Potter & Sons of Yeaveley for a pair of Limousins at 15 months of age with another 14 month old Limousin from the same farmers at £1000 and a 9 month old Limousin from Amy Seabridge of Hollywood at £890, a pair of Simmentals at 10 months of age from B Chadwick of Hilton at £800 and a bunch of 3, 9 month old Limousins from Margaret Bradbury of Ipstones at £790. A 10 month old Limousin from J A Nicholls of Wetley Rocks sold for £800.
Overall average for weened bulls was £658.17.
Steers
There were 255 steers on offer with some excellent prices being achieved, seeing a top price of £1405 for a 21 month old, excellent shaped Limousin from J Turner of Okeover with a pair of 21 month old Limousins from the same vendor selling for £1285 and a bunch of 4 good quality, well shaped Limousins from Peter Richardson of Ipstones at 20 months of age exchanging hands for £1240.
Another pair of 21 month old Limousins from Colin Lymer of Cheddleton exchanged hands for £1160 with a bunch of 3, 16 month old Limousins from F Potter & sons of Yeaveley at £1115.
A 21 month old Hereford from Richard Lees of Whiston was well sold at £1230 with another 21 month old Hereford from the same vendor at £1100 and a pair of 25 month old Herefords from Mark Gardiner at £1095.
A pair of 20 month old Angus from GW & SM Pattinson of Weaver were well sold at £1185 with another pair of 27 month old Angus from Mark Gardiner at £1165 and a pair of 19 month old Angus from R A Bayley of Macclesfield at £1090 with a 16 month old Angus from Adam Shaw of Ashbourne at £1085.
British Blue Steers from FA & TM Cotton of Tean sold up to £1150 with another 22 month old British Blue from GW & SM Pattinson at £1110 with Charolais from F Goodwin of Wetley Rocks at 19 months of age selling for £1105.
Simmental steers from M Hassall of Crewe sold at 24 months of age sold for £1000 with Shorthorn steers from GW & SM Pattinson of Weaver at 21 months of age at £960.
Good shaped Friesians at 21 months of age from Tom Johnson of Bosley sold for £920.
Younger cattle achieved up to £1100 for a 10 month old Limousin from Andrew and Tim Carr of Waterfall with a British Blue from Amy Seabridge at 11 months of age at £1000 and a 9 month old Limousin from the same farmer at £1000 also.
Overall average achieved for the steers was £824.71.
Heifers
There were 182 heifers on offer with the top price being £1280 paid for an excellent shaped 18 month old Limousin from J Turner of Okeover with a bunch of 4, 23 month old Limousins from Amy Seabridge at £1065 with another single 21 month old Limousin from the same farmer selling for the same price.
A 24 month old Limousin from J Greatbatch of Wetley Rocks sold for £1030 with a bunch of 3, 27 month old Simmental heifers from Mark Gardiner at £1090 with another bunch of 3, 20 month old Simmentals from Robert Day of Cheddleton at £1010.
British Blue heifers from Mark Gardiner at 27 months of age sold for £1085 with a pair of 20 month old British Blues at £970 from Campion Brothers Limited of Burton on Trent at £970.
A single 20 month old Angus heifer from GW & SM Pattinson of Weaver exchanged hands for £1035 with South Devon Heifers at 21 months of age from Joel Pudsey of Quarnford at £1010.
Shorthorn heifers from John Shemilt of Ipstones at 21 months of age sold for £900 with younger cattle up to £840 for a bunch of 3, 9 month old Charolais from Brookbank Farm Limited of Holmes Chapel with a pair of 10 month old Blondes from Tom James of Eccleshall at £825 and a bunch of 6, 11 month old Limousin Heifers from MJD Farms of Alstonefield at £770.
