Breeding Section
Top price was £2270 for a British Blue cow with a strong Limousin heifer calf at foot, from Brian Wainwright of Meerbrook, with an Aberdeen Angus cow, with a Charolais heifer calf at foot, from Kidd Farmers of Longer, selling for £1610 and another similar outfit realising £1520.
Woodward Farmers, of Lichfield, sold an Aberdeen Angus heifer, with a Charolais bull calf at foot, up to £1440.
Steers
There were 317 steers on offer which produced a very pleasing average of £1045 with a top price of £1785 for a 27-month-old Aberdeen Angus from Clive Hidderley of Ipstones, with another pair of 27-month-old Aberdeen Angus, from the same vendor, at £1735 and a bunch of six 24-month-old Aberdeen Angus, from D H Jones & Son of Holmes Chapel, at £1565.
Hereford steers, from Eddie Simpson of Winkhill, at 28 months of age, sold up to £1755 with an 18-month-old Hereford, for Elliot and Harriet Simcock of Endon, at £1475, a pair of 18-month-old Herefords, for M A Simcock, at £1475 and a pair of 22-month-old Herefords, from H & R Nash of Marchington, at £1375.
A pair of Simmental at 20 months old, for Messrs Carnwell of Kingsley, topped at £1690 with a single 26-month-old Simmental steer, from LA & MA Done & Son of Bosley, at £1600 and another pair of 20-month-old Simmental, from Messrs Carnwell of Kingsley, at £1595.
Charolais steers, from Ross Worthington of Edale, at 19 months of age, achieved up to £1625 with another, from the same vendor, at 18 months of age, at £1595.
British Blue steers, from Messrs Done & Son of Bosley, at 22 months of age, sold up to £1580 with another 22-month-old British Blue steer, from the same vendor, at £1515.
Limousin steers, from Peter Richardson of Ipstones, at 19 months of age, topped at £1590 with another bunch of four 15-month-old Limousin, from Geoff Nutter of Grindon, at £1530.
Holstein steers, from DRH Agriculture of Poynton, at 32 months of age, sold for £1300.
Younger cattle included an 11 month old Limousin steer, from JC & D Hudson of Wetton, which sold particularly well at £1440 with a 13 month old British Blue steer, from David & Robert Machin of Rudyard, at £1380 and a 12 month old Charolais, from JA Clowes & Sons of Ashbourne, at £1340
Heifers
There were 255 heifers on offer which returned an average of £1024, seeing a top price of £1750 for a pair of 16-month-old Charolais, from D Bowers of Shredicote Lane, with another pair of 15 month old Charolais heifers, from the same vendor, at £1600 and a 20 month old Charolais, from Geoff Goodwin of Wetley Rocks, at £1510.
Simmental heifers, from Pilkington Farmers of Hartington, at 27 months of age, were well sold up to £1745 with another 27-month-old Simmental heifer, from the same vendor, at £1490.
Shorthorn Heifers, from PJ Davenport of Calton, at 26 months old, sold up to £1545 with South Devon heifers, from Rushton Spencer, at 27 months of age, up to £1440 and British Blue heifers, at 28 months of age, from Messrs Richardson of Horsley Woodhouse, realising £1435.
Limousin heifers, from PJ Stephens of Macclesfield, at 24 months of age, sold well at £1460 with Bazadaise heifers, from H & R Nash of Uttoxeter, at 21 months of age, at £1395.
Aberdeen Angus heifers topped at £1460, for D H Jones & Son of Crewe, seeing £1385 from Robert Fernyhough of Abbots Bromley, at 23 months of age, with another 22-month-old Aberdeen Angus, from Messrs Carnwell of Kingsley, at £1350. Blonde heifers, from Pilkington Farmers of Hartington, at 28 months old, sold up to £1340 with Hereford heifers achieving up to £1260, for a 22-month-old beast, from Messrs Carnwell of Kingsley.
A bunch of 13-month-old British Blue Heifers, from David and Robert Machin of Rudyard, achieved £1250.
