A total of 493 Store and Breeding Cattle were on offer this week. It is good to see vendors and buyers from such a wide area, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support.
Breeding Section
A Blonde cow with a Charolais heifer calf sold to £2520 for BE Wain of Siddington. A J Byron of Uttoxeter had a Simmental cow with a Simmental male calf to £2000 and a Flekvieh cow with a Simmental male calf to £2000 also.
A bunch of five British Blue breeding heifers sold to £1980 from a High Peak vendor.
Stock Bull
A Hereford bull achieved £2200 for MJ & VP Oliver & Sons of Congleton.
Young Bulls
A Limousin bull at 14 months old sold for £1700 for D Barber of Blore with a pair of 12-month-old Limousin bulls to £1480 from the same vendor. A 13-month-old Simmental bull sold to £1480 for A Hedges of Ashbourne. JB Rowlinson & Son of Gawsworth had a 15-month-old Hereford bull to £1420.
The overall average for young bulls was £946.19.
Steers
There were 274 steers, and the younger cattle were a very strong trade this week with a 14-month-old Limousin topping the day at £2270 for RG & AS Williamson of Wetley Rocks, they also had a 13-month-old Charolais to £2180.
A trio of Limousin at 21 months old sold to £2070 for C Lymer of Cheddleton and a 33-month-old Limousin achieved £2065 for J D Pickford & Son of Leek. A 25-month-old Limousin sold to £1985 for H & R Nash of Marchington.
A 19-month-old British Blue steer sold to £2165 for J D Pickford & Son of Leek, a 23-month-old British Blue sold to £2045 for H & R Nash of Marchington, a 14-month-old British Blue sold to £2000 for RG & AS Williamson of Wetley Rocks and a 22-month-old achieved £1975 for PW Gerrard of Uttoxeter.
Aberdeen Angus at 23 months old sold to £2100 for A Swinson of Gawsworth, an Aberdeen Angus at 16 months sold to £2050 for DRK Agriculture of Macclesfield who also had another at 23 months old to £2020 and a bunch of three at 23 months old to £1980. A bunch of six Aberdeen Angus at 24 months old sold to £1980 for D J Edge of Northwich.
A X Bred steer at 22 months old sold to £2090 for C Nash of Dayhills, with a trio of Longhorn steers sold to £1960 for R W Potter & Co of Yeaveley and Shorthorn steers at 22 months old achieved £1910 for C Nash of Dayhills.
A 22-month-old Hereford sold to £1770 for H Phillips of Blackshaw Moor and a bunch of three Hereford sold to £1740 for FW & JF Brookes of Crakemarsh.
The overall average for steers was a £1544.45, an increase of just over £40 on a fortnight ago.
Heifers
There were 176 heifers on offer with the younger cattle topping the day again at £2100 for Limousin at 14 months old for RG & AS Williamson of Wetley Rocks who also had another at 13 months old to £1940.
Charolais heifers topped at £1980 for HG & J Evans of Macclesfield and a 25-month-old Charolais heifer sold to £1890 for H & R Nash of Uttoxeter
A bunch of three British Blue heifers at 19 months old sold to £1920 for D Machin of Rudyard who had another bunch of four, also at 19 months, to £1910.A pair of 22-month-old British Blue sold to £1770 for PW Gerrard of Uttoxeter.
A bunch of four Aberdeen Angus heifers achieved £1845 for DB & A Beech of Milton who had another pair at 27 months old to £1750 with three at 25 months old selling to £1770 for DRK Agriculture of Macclesfield.
A 27-month-old Simmental heifer from JB Rowlinson of Gawsworth sold to £1840 and a pair of Shorthorn heifers at 25 months old sold to £1555 for W N Salt of Waterhouses. A bunch of four Hereford heifers at 20 months old sold to £1460 for J Ball of Longnor.
The overall average for heifers was £1349.46, which was £40 down on the last sale.
