A total entry of 212 Store and Breeding Cattle were on offer, a pleasing entry considering the sale was only four days off Christmas Day, seeing a ring full of buyers with some excellent prices being achieved.
Young Bulls
Two young bulls were particularly well sold up to £1600 and £1580 for Limousin, from A Sayer of Hilderstone at 10 months old and a 9-month-old British Blue, from Messrs Gabbott, achieved £1100.
Steers
Steers topped at £1750 for a 19-month-old Simmental for E Cookson & Partners with 21-month-old British Blue making £1660 for the same farmer.
Limousin topped at £1650 for a 17-month-old Limousin for the Wright Family of Hartington with £1390 for a 25-month-old Limousin for S Archer of Heanor.
Hereford steers sold up to £1460 for a pair at 18 months old, for John Brookes of Crakemarsh, and £1390 for a pair of 16-month-old steers from Messrs Bower of Hyde.
Friesian steers, at 22 months old, for S Archer, achieved £1410 and Montbeliarde at 22 months old sold for £1390.
Holstein achieved £1310 for D & D Gould of Waterhouses, at 21 months old.
Younger cattle sold up to £1120 for a bundle of three Simmental for JB Rowlinson & Son and £1110 for a pair of 10-month-old Simmental steers for Jim Bennison of Ipstones.
Heifers
Heifers sold up to £1600 for a pair of 21-month-old Aberdeen Angus for E Cookson & Partners and British Blue heifers, at 28 months old, achieved £1450 for JE Carr.
Hereford heifers, again for E Cookson & Partners, at 21 months old, sold for £1410.
Limousin heifers, from John Brookes of Crakemarsh, at 18 months old, sold for £1400.
Holstein heifers, for J Walker & Sons of Tideswell, sold to £1275.
