There was an excellent entry of 495 Store and Breeding cattle on offer with an exceptional trade throughout.
Breeding Section
A special entry of Longhorn cows and calves from Steven Charles of Tideswell sold up to £1600 with other outfits at £1500, £1480 and £1450.
An Angus cow with a Limousin heifer calf at foot from S Allcock of Waterhouses sold for £1310 with another Angus cow with a Limousin bull calf at foot from the same vendor also selling for £1310.
An Angus cow with a Blonde bull calf at foot from Tom James of Eccleshall exchanged hands for £1410. In calf Hereford heifers from Bill Waters of Upper Hulme sold up to £1060, £1040 and £1020.
One stock bull was on offer being the Longhorn from Steven Charles being 72 months old and exchanged hands for £1080. A Highland suckler cow from Graham Park of Macclesfield exchanged hands for £750.
Young Bulls
In the young bull section top price payable at £1050 for a bunch of 5 well shaped Limousins at 11 months old from Joe Austin of Parwich with another pair of 10 month old Limousins from the same farmer at £890 and a 9 month old Limousin from Dave Edgecox of Onecote at £840.
A pair of Shorthorn bulls at 6 months of age from William Smith of Marchington sold for £730 with a number of smaller bulls producing an overall average of £731.25.
Steers
There were 237 steers on offer with a top price of £1390 for a 21 month old Angus from Bottom Lane Farm with another Angus at 20 months old from Joe Austin of Parwich at £1350. A bunch of 3, 23 month old Limousins from Joe Austin sold for £1325 with a bunch of 3, 19 month old Limousins from F Potter & Sons of Yeaveley at £1305 with another bunch of 3, 16 month old Limousins at £1275.
Simmental steers from Bottom Lane Farm at 21 months of age sold up to £1260 with others at £1250 at similar age. A 26 month old Simmental steer from D J Cooper of Macclesfield was well sold at £1230. British Blue steers from Joe Austin sold up to £1220 at 23 months of age with another 24 month old British Blue steer from Ross Worthington at £1150.
A bunch of 4, 21 month old Limousins from Peter Richardson of Ipstones exchanged hands for £1220 with a single 20 month old Limousin from Colin Lymer of Cheddleton at £1205 and a bunch of 3, 19 month old Limousins from Joe Austin at £1195 and a pair of 29 month old Limousins from G J Moss & Sons of Buglawton at £1190.
Shorthorn steers at 19 months of age sold up to £1175 with Hereford steers topping at £1065 for a 32 month old steer from Roy Sant with a 21 month old Hereford steer from Campion Brothers Limited of Burton on Trent at £1020. Holstein steers from C W Pearce and Partners sold for £1000 at 19 months of age.
Younger cattle achieved up to £1000 for a 10 month old Angus from A E Allcock of Waterhouses with a 11 month old Limousin from S Allcock of Waterhouses at £1015. A pair of 13 month old Limousins from Jeff Turner of Okeover at £990 and a single 12 month old Limousin from Dave Edgecox of Onecote at £980 with a bunch of 5, 9 month old Angus from A E Allcock of Waterhouses at £975.
Overall average achieved for the steers was £894.69.
Heifers
There were 203 heifers on offer with a single 22 month old Simmental topping at £1295 from Bottom Lane Farm with another 20 month old Simmental at £1195. Limousin heifers from Joe Austin at 22 months of age sold up to £1280 with a pair of 22 month old Limousins from F Potter & Sons of Yeaveley at £1250. Shorthorn heifers at 22 months of age sold up to £1175 with a single 21 month old Charolais from Ross Worthington at £1175.A bunch of 3, 27 month old Angus from J & D Norbury of Ashley sold for £1130 with an 18 month old British Blue heifer from C W Pearce and Partners at £1100.
Hereford heifers from Holmes Brothers of Loscoe at 23 months of age sold for £1060 with younger cattle selling up to £940 for a pair of 13 month old Limousins from S Allcock of Waterhouses with a 13 month old Simmental from H & E Bailey & Partners of Brown Edge at £895 and a pair of 12 month old Limousins from Cyril Wain & Family of Upper Hulme at £885.
Overall average achieved for heifers was an excellent £805.07.
